Your health is the GREATEST investment you will ever make! Strength training not only helped my husband reach his athletic goals, but now it has helped save his life & accelerate his healing. As you are probably aware by now, by husband suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke on 9/9/24. I was told he had less than a 20% chance of surviving. He survived. A couple weeks later, his lungs got real sick while intubated and in the hospital and he developed ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) & he kept desatting….it was so so scary. I was told he had a 50% chance of surviving this..& even if he did, the lack of oxygen over a prolonged period meant he may not ever fully recover. He recovered. Later he acquired a pulmonary embolism which also could have killed him. But it didn’t. You may think it’s luck or something like that, but I know that it’s because Logan & I have always prioritized strength training, eating healthy and taking care of ourselves. If you don’t know what to do or where to start, that is okay! This is what I do for a living and if you’re open to it, I’d love to be able to either create you a custom rehab/training program OR I can guide you to one of my amazing app based programs that you can start TODAY! Train Your Upper Body Like This: Push + Pull A simple way to structure upper body training is pairing horizontal pushing and pulling movements. This helps build balanced strength around the shoulder while improving overall upper body mechanics. Incline Push Ups (Horizontal Push) Incline push ups train the chest, triceps, and serratus anterior while reinforcing trunk stability and scapular control. Focus on maintaining a rigid torso, keeping the arms slightly abducted (~50–70°), and actively pushing the bench away to allow the shoulder blades to move naturally. Single Arm Bench Supported Row (Horizontal Pull) Rows target the lats, rhomboids, and mid traps which support scapular positioning and shoulder stability. Pull the elbow toward the hip while keeping the shoulder stacked over the wrist and finishing with a controlled squeeze of the shoulder blade.
