That’s exactly what Joe Wicks has done by saying he “relapsed” from sugar. Relapse is a word we use for serious health issues like drug or alcohol addiction. It’s not the right term for eating sugar, and using it this way risks fuelling guilt, fear, and unhealthy relationships with food. I work with people every day who’ve faced addiction. I know the weight these words carry. That’s why we need to be careful with how we use them-especially when speaking to millions of followers. Fitness influencers want you to react. They want you to like, comment, and share, so you’re drawn in to buy their book, their course, their supplements. I love this kid and just found out last week he relapsed a 3rd time and my heart is breaking for him but he’s GOT THIS he is strong and there’s NO OPTION but to fight and get back to college life, his dog and a new yorkie soon 🥹💞🙏🏽🤟🏽

HMToday was the launch of the @goodfridayappeal but it was also my port surgery and first chemotherapy day!
For those following me you know I relapsed with a new tumour 12-18months ago and the doctors have been monitoring it ever since. It was inevitable that I would resume chemotherapy I just didn’t know when. Well now I do. It was today. So I will be on chemotherapy for the rest of this year. We need to shrink the new tumour and put it to sleep! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
My tumour is not operable nor curable but it responds to treatment. My doctors have intervened at a time when they thought I may start to have symptoms.
I am ineligible for a lot of new treatments but I’m in the best hands at the @rchmelbourne so please don’t send me treatment options because if they were an option my oncologist and team would suggest them.
I’m feeling ok! I’m positive and I’ll get through this again. Thank you to each and every one of you who follow me, encourage me and send me positive vibes I greatly appreciate it. I may not get back to everyone personally but I do receive and read all the messages.

PS I had a fall rolled my ankle grade 2 sprain and split my knee open on a wire fence but…I avoided stitches!! I’m good!

THThis is the last video I took before I relapsed.
Three months sober.
Left my liver specialist with good news.
Walked out feeling “safe.”
And that night, I drank.
Not because I wanted to celebrate.
Not because I didn’t care.
But because relief hit harder than fear ever did.
Good news can be just as dangerous as bad news when alcohol is your solution to everything.
It took me 11 more days to get back to detox.
11 days of bargaining, minimizing, and telling myself it wasn’t that bad.
Today I have 419 days. But I didn’t get to 419 without that relapse.
If this confuses you, you’re probably not an alcoholic.
If this makes uncomfortable sense, you are not alone.
Sobriety isn’t linear.
Relapse isn’t random.
And sometimes it takes what it takes.

JAI wanted to find recovery and he didn’t want it. It’s as simple as that. We broke up, I started fighting for my recovery and he ended up in jail. When he got out he relapsed and passed away. The process of bringing him home was very traumatic, and at first I was mad at myself for not going myself but with like 20 days in recovery after fighting so hard to get to that point, I think I made the right decision. It was back to back trauma when I found recovery, like things I couldn’t even imagine ever happening, happened. It was very sad, I blamed my recovery for his passing, telling myself things like ‘this wouldn’t have happened if I was there’ but that’s called survivor’s guilt. I had it so bad for so long, which is what drives my efforts in the community. I don’t want anyone to ever feel the way I did. Every time I post his story, people say things like ‘he made his choice’ or ‘you could’ve been next to him’ you are downplaying complex issues. Those statements are not helpful. I tell his story because no one deserves to die like that, then when I’m using my trauma to educate people so we can stop seeing our loved ones die, they mock him or act like he didn’t deserve to live..
Let me tell you Sam’s story. He was adopted at birth, his adopted parents seen a woman in need and a baby that was going to be put in the system. His biological mother had track marks on every inch of her arms according to his adopted mother. Sam was born with fetal alcohol syndrome, and was in the NICU for months before his parents were able to bring him home. His parents were very wealthy and lived in a mansion in Grosse Pointe off lake shore. He went to Grosse Pointe academy which right now costs $30,000 a year. His dad helped people get million dollar loans to build shopping malls. He grew up having everything he wanted and was very proud of his childhood. With Sam’s issues at birth he was way more likely to develop SUD if he started to experiment, and when he did, it took him almost instantly. All his friends could have a drink or two, Sam took it too far until he was blacked out and frankly a danger to himself. People like to judge Sam, but not a CLUE how we got here. #fyp #detroit

SAWhen she relapsed, we were faced with the hardest decision of our lives.
There are no easy answers when it’s your child. Just tears, long nights, constant prayers, and asking God for wisdom.
After so much thought and guidance, we chose a holistic approach and declined chemo this time.
It was terrifying.
It was heartbreaking.
But we felt peace moving in this direction.

OAChildhood Cancer Awareness Month….
Can you believe I actually miss the times the girls were able to do their sedated cancer scans together? Now, they are on opposite schedules since Eve relapsed.
I thought they had oncology appointments tomorrow, but it’s next Monday. I guess I’m a one day at a time type of gal. lol.
You all have made some great suggestions on Eve’s education due to her hearing loss/auditory neuropathy . I’ve placed numerous phone calls and sent emails. I will be back at it again tomorrow. It is so hard finding the right place for her. The closest hard of hearing school is about an hour away, I’ve sent them some emails and hoping to hear back this week. Gosh, I’ve been working on this for so long.
I’m also looking into further support in class as well as a service dog. At first, I thought , a service dog?? But then I realized, it may help with her anxiety, stress, and hearing loss. A dog could possibly alert her when she cannot hear. But with anything else, I believe there’s a lot of hoops to jump through.
So many moving parts, it’s overwhelming.
And, I’m returning to work part time very soon. At least it’s something to help. This way I can still have flexibility around the girls’ needs. I will share more once I actually start. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Crazy story…when I went to visit cannon for the first time at the same hospital I was at his mom told me that because I shared about the CBC panel test detecting my leukemia, she knew what test to ask the doctor for so he could be diagnosed.🙏🏽 we need another miracle ✨
