Einstein didn’t just change physics. He erased the idea of a universal “now.” In relativity, there is no single present moment shared by the universe. Different observers slice spacetime differently — meaning past, present, and future all coexist in the structure of reality. Time doesn’t flow like a river. We move through a spacetime that already exists. Physics, not philosophy. Follow @cosmo_pops to see the reality of the universe… #universe #astrophysics #time #space #fact

TIME FEELS SLOW ON EARTH… BUT, that’s only because we live inside it. 🌍⏳ On Earth, time flows at what we call a normal pace because our gravity is moderate and our speed through space is relatively low. Our clocks tick steadily, letting life grow, civilizations rise, and moments feel real. But step closer to extreme gravity like a black hole and time itself begins to break. Near a black hole, gravity becomes so intense that time slows dramatically. To an outside observer, a clock falling toward a black hole would appear to almost stop. One second there could equal years far away. Earth gently bends space-time. A black hole crushes it. Time isn’t universal. It’s shaped by gravity, speed, and the fabric of the universe itself. What feels slow here could be frozen somewhere else… or racing beyond imagination. The universe doesn’t run on one clock, it runs on relativity. Time passes at different rates on different planets due to the effects of relativity. Stronger gravity and higher velocities slow the passage of time relative to weaker gravity and lower speeds, as described by Einstein’s theory of relativity. While these differences are usually tiny, they become measurable near massive objects or at extreme speeds, showing that time is not absolute but shaped by gravity and motion. #TimeDilation #Relativity #Astrophysics #SpaceTime #GeneralRelativity

In Interstellar, Miller’s planet orbits close to the black hole Gargantua, where gravity is so strong that time runs much slower. This is gravitational time dilation, a prediction of Einstein’s relativity. On the planet, one hour equals about seven years outside. So when Cooper and Brand return after only a few hours, Romilly has aged 23 years waiting in orbit. Einstein’s theory explains this: gravity warps spacetime itself, slowing time near massive objects. For the crew, time feels normal on the surface, but decades pass elsewhere — showing that time is not absolute, but relative.

In the landscape of theoretical physics, few ideas capture the imagination as powerfully as wormholes (hypothetical tunnels that could link distant regions of space and time). Though they remain unproven, wormholes arise naturally from the mathematics of Einstein’s general theory of relativity, which describes gravity not as a force but as the curvature of spacetime itself. In this curved geometry, certain solutions to Einstein’s equations allow for shortcuts through spacetime, forming what physicists call Einstein–Rosen bridges. #universe #space #physics #viral #explorepage

Light travels at 299,792 km/s (186,282 mi/s) in a vacuum because it consists of massless photons, which must always move at this speed. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, nothing with mass can reach or exceed this limit, meaning we see distant objects as they were in the past. A person 80 light-years away would appear as they looked 80 years ago. The speed of light was first measured by Ole Rømer in 1676 using Jupiter's moons, proving it was not instantaneous. Later, Albert A. Michelson refined its value, making it one of physics most important constants. This speed also forms the basis of Einstein's equation E = mc², linking energy and mass. Despite being incredibly fast, light's finite speed is a major challenge for space exploration: Communicating with or traveling to distant planets would take years or centuries, making real-time interaction impossible, and overcoming this barrier would require future technologies like warp drives or wormholes. . . . . The black hole in Interstellar was so scientifically accurate that rendering just 10 seconds took 24,000 hours. On a normal laptop, that would mean almost 8 years. Christopher Nolan wanted zero fiction, so he brought in Kip Thorne. Thorne used Einstein’s general relativity equations to calculate how light bends around a rotating black hole. The simulation became so precise that it led to peer-reviewed scientific papers. In 2017, Thorne received the Nobel Prize in Physics — not for the movie, but for the discovery of gravitational waves, confirming predictions of relativity. The film wasn’t wrong. It showed physics before our telescopes could. We post one powerful insight daily.
