I saved this from the KINDLING pile! This bow was originally intended to be 45 pounds at 28 inches, but when tillering I sanded out some deep gouges in the grain causing the bow to draw an incredible 32 inches at 45 pounds. The bow took about an inch and a half of set from that draw length, but it shoots incredibly sweet and wicked fast. It is easy to string, and when braced low at 6 inches, it really has some arrow speed. The bow physically weighs 22 ounces, is polished to 320 grit and finished with Tung oil. This bow would be perfect for a very tall guy who's perhaps new to archery, or in the twilight of his hunting years. Get your hands on a piece of inferior hard wood. Design a durable bow, and shoot it. inferior is a term for Bow Designs, not a term for straight grained wood of any species.

Homemade budget arrows for the stick bows. I made several of these arrows from road side brush, which has been coppiced inadvertently by the mowing machines. Two are Hazel, of which were easy to straighten but checked all the way to the heart. these checks I filled with glue, but the arrows should be inspected every shot. one is Ocean spray, which had almost no checking and made a very durable thin arrow shaft and was more difficult to straighten with heat. one was an unknown soft, light, balsa-like pithy wood, it broke when I was trying to straighten it, and wouldn't have survived long. these two fletched arrows, when properly trimmed and properly long, stabilize the arrow and impart some spin, but if you want really good flight, a with broadheads, a straight fletch with the broadhead oriented on a parallel plane with the ground, and your fletchints on a parallel plane with your string, makes for a very good flying predictable arrow.

This viral archery clip delivers a real-life “Robin Hood moment—and that’s why everyone’s talking about it. In the footage, an archer takes aim at a target where one arrow is already perfectly embedded. The next shot flies in and appears to split the existing arrow down the middle, from tip to nock. Whether it’s a true split or a near-perfect alignment into the shaft, the precision is insane. The video has already crossed 7.1M views and 87K+ likes, with viewers debating what actually happened. Some argue it’s a clean split, while others say the second arrow followed the grain of the first and lodged into it. Either way, it’s an extremely rare outcome. What makes this even more impressive is the science behind it. Arrows don’t travel in a perfectly straight, rigid line—they flex and oscillate mid-air due to a principle known as Archer's paradox. That means even a tiny deviation can throw off accuracy by millimeters. To land a shot like this requires elite control, consistency, and composure—especially from distance. It’s not just skill, it’s near-perfect execution under conditions where perfection is almost impossible. Split or not, one thing’s clear: moments like this sit on the razor’s edge of precision—and that’s exactly why they go viral. 🎯🔥
