After patrolling the same dirt road a couple of times, I decided that this was where I was going to find a Shingleback.
Much to my hopes I succeeded in finding one the following morning. Knowing that these animals will bask in open areas, I cruised down the track early in the morning before the daytime temperatures and direct sunlight reached an unbearable heat.
Often people who aren’t overly familiar with reptiles don’t realise that these lizards are a species of Blue Tongue Lizard, one of six Blue Tongues found in Australia to be precise.
Not seen on camera is the absolute gobsmacked look I had on my face as an adult Emu did it’s best Usain Bolt impression across the road in front of me as I headed down the highway to this spot.
