A nice variation for the traditional banded side step exercise is what we call the peroneal focused side step. Place a small band/loop around the arch of your feet, or around your ankles. Keeping your knees straight, rise up about 1-1.5 inches off the floor, step to one side, and then bring the other foot to meet it. As you lift the leg to the side, make sure you’re pressing through the ball of the big toe in the standing leg - this is what really engages the peroneus longus! You can do this with hands on a wall if the balance is difficult! This can be a nice option for those who can’t tolerate a high heel raise because of pain in the big toe as the low range can often accommodate that. #gaithappens #everysolematters #footstrength #peroneuslongus

It happens at times, we do an exercise aiming for a certain benefit and it proves to be more effective somewhere else.🧐 #kneerehab I thought I was doing this exercise for benefitting my back (which it might still be ), but this immediately made my knees feet better 😎. I would hardly train at 45 ° and 90° , these are proving to be real deal for me in my present situation. I do 20 reps(with core engaged) at each angle both legs almost everyday. If you've tried almost all knee rehab exercises and not much difference , give it a try ,espc if you also have a back condition or pelvic imbalance. You never know , it might be the missing piece. La scelta tra i due dipende esclusivamente dall’obiettivo biomeccanico e funzionale che vuoi raggiungere. Step Up: * Lavoro prevalentemente concentrico * Focus sulla produzione di forza verticale * Attivazione specifica di quadricipite e gluteo * Ottimo per sviluppare forza esplosiva Step Down: * Predominanza del controllo eccentrico * Maggiore richiesta di stabilizzazione articolare (anca, ginocchio, caviglia) * Corregge efficacemente squilibri e deficit di controllo motorio * Ideale per prevenzione e riabilitazione Biomeccanica base: Step Up produce forza, Step Down sviluppa controllo. Entrambi gli esercizi sono validi, ma inserirli correttamente in un programma di allenamento è la chiave per ottenere risultati concreti.
