🤖 Scribble Bots – STEM in motion!   Create, connect and watch it go! These wobbly little bots are a hands-on way to explore movement, energy and design. Children build their own scribbling bots using simple materials and a motor, each with its own unique spin and artistic flair. It’s STEM that gets children thinking, tinkering and laughing as they learn.    You’ll need: Paper Cups (JM850) DC Motor 1.5V-4.5V (EIS1004MM) or DC Motor 3V (NK51160) AA Batteries (ACC9410) AA Battery Snap Terminals (SER1024064) Wooden Pegs (SH440) Jumbo Pop Sticks (JM100) Masking Tape (DP0504) Chunky Triangular Markers (CS9001) Cartridge Paper Roll (WHP081) or Easel Paper (KT74) Joggle Eyes (TH321) Fancy Pipe Cleaners (CL1970) Neon Pom Poms (CL0171)   Let’s make it!   ✅ Paint or colour a paper cup and let dry. Flip it upside down for the bot’s body.   ✅ Connect the battery holder to the motor by wrapping the wires around the motor leads. Test by inserting batteries, then remove one while assembling.   ✅ Tape the battery pack to the top of the cup slightly off-centre. Tape the motor beside it with the commutator facing up.   ✅ Add a wooden peg to the motor’s commutator. To increase the wobble, tape a jumbo pop stick to the peg so it sits slightly off-balance.   ✅ Tape three or four coloured markers inside the cup with tips touching the table to form the bot’s legs.   ✅ Add personality with joggle eyes, pipe cleaners and pom poms.   ✅ Tape a large sheet of paper to a flat surface, place your bot on top, pop the battery back in and watch it go!   Top tip: Try different peg and stick placements. Today, I wanted to share a simple machine craft that you can make with your kids. It looks complicated, but this cat and dog spinner is straightforward to put together. Let’s get started!⠀ ⭕ MATERIALS:⠀ - 2 CDs/DVDs⠀ - Coloured paper ⠀ - 2 plastic bottle caps⠀ - A wooden skewer⠀ - Cardboard⠀ - 2 Washers⠀ - Hot glue⠀ - Small scissors⠀ ⭕ INSTRUCTIONS:⠀ (1) Glue the paper to the CDs. ⠀ (2) Carefully pierce a small hole into your bottle caps, and place them in the centre of the paper - in line with the CD hole, flat side down. ⠀ (3) Break off the pointy ends of the skewer, and thread it through one of the CD holes, and bottle cap.⠀ (4) Apply glue to the inner bottle cap where the skewer pokes out, and glue the flat side to the paper. ⠀ (5) Add on cardboard strips, and secure the other CD.⠀ (6) Add washers to the small side of the cardboard, and the animals the the top.⠀ #TheDadLab #playandlearn #homeschooling #fatherhood #diyproject⠀
