Letting warm water run over your baby’s feet before bedtime isn’t just a sweet moment. It’s neurophysiology. The feet are full of sensory receptors. When warm water flows slowly over them, the body receives a clear message of safety and relaxation. The parasympathetic nervous system switches on, everything starts to slow down. On top of that, the gentle change in temperature supports thermoregulation — a key step for falling asleep more easily and sleeping more soundly. It’s very different from a full bath, which isn’t relaxing for every baby, especially because of what comes after: drying, dressing, stimulation. If your baby struggles to fall asleep, gets overstimulated, or wakes up often, guessing isn’t the solution. Comment PATH to understand what actually helps. ✨ We’re The Cozy Knights — follow us to learn more and discover our sleep training programs designed to support your baby (and you) with clarity and calm. #babysleep #sleeptraining #bedtimeroutine #newparents #parentlife #exhaustedparents #gentleparenting #patsleepsystem #thecozyknights #babysleepconsultantsleeptips #babysleepconsultant #ParentHack #BabySleepHacks

Letting your child step on chickpeas or other legumes isn’t just a sensory activity. It actually helps their body too. The uneven surface stimulates the sensory receptors in the feet, improves body awareness, and gently activates small stabilizing muscles. This kind of input sends calming signals to the nervous system, helping the body settle down before sleep. All you need is a bowl, a handful of legumes, and your child sitting down, placing their feet on them for a few minutes. Doing this for 2–3 minutes every evening before bedtime can help reduce night wakings. Many parents notice the first changes after just a few days. Parents who are still exhausted from lack of sleep… it’s worth a try 💖 Have you ever tried this, or does it sound crazy to you? Tell me in the comments 👇 We’re The Cozy Knights. We help families sleep better with the PAT Sleep System, a science-based sleep training framework that shows you exactly what to do, based on your child’s sleep signals. No guessing. Psychologist and trauma therapist Gregor Röpnack explains something many parents intuitively feel, but have not always had the language to understand, articulating one of the core reasons why sleep training does not address the true biological needs of a child. This message is deeply aligned with what we have been teaching for over 16 years. When a child stops crying after being left alone, it is often misunderstood as “learning to sleep.” In reality, it can reflect adaptation, not regulation. True sleep is not created through separation. It is created through safety. Sleep is a biological and nervous system process, not a behavioral performance. This is one of the many reasons why our Holistic Science of Sleep Method™ has helped thousands of families worldwide. When a child’s nervous system feels safe, sleep emerges naturally. There is no forcing. No breaking. No overriding biology. In 2011, we became the first organization in the world to pioneer a fully holistic approach to child sleep, one that honors nervous system regulation, emotional development, attachment, and biological readiness, without requiring sleep training. Parents deserve support that respects both themselves and their child. If you are a parent, you can learn how to support your child’s sleep gently and effectively in my book Awakening Through Sleep. You can access it in my bio. If you are a professional, or feel called to become one and want to help families using a holistic, evidence-informed approach that honors development and regulation, you can learn more through the International Parenting & Health Institute. Sleep is not something you force. It is something you allow when safety is present. 🎥 Original video and message by @psych.gregor.roepnack Gregor Röpnack, M.Sc. Psychology, trauma therapist, and childhood integration specialist. Shared here with permission and reposted in English to support broader awareness.

Waiting for the 4 month sleep regression to “end”? 😴This can happen Anytime between 3-5 months!! One family I worked with was stuck in a cycle with their 4-month-old waking up at 11 p.m., 1, 3, 4, and 5 a.m. 😩 They assumed it was all the sleep regression and that baby was hungry—but the truth? It was a combination of baby starting to reverse cycle feed overnight and relying on feeding and rocking as a soothing mechanism. Within a few nights of implementing her sleep plan her baby slept through the night without a feed. And, her daytime feeds improved too! 💫This is the GOLDEN time to work on independent sleep.😴 3-4 month olds are the FASTEST to adapt when sleep training!!! Sleep cycle changes are permanent so you won’t see an “End Date” when it comes to the 4 month sleep regression. And You don’t have to wait for the 4 month sleep regression to END before sleep training! In the thick of it? 😵‍💫Comment 𝗘𝗡𝗗 and I’ll send you a link to my blog with tips to help! tips to navigate this tricky phase. 🆘 If you feel like you’re back to newborn sleep with multiple wake ups overnight and lots of effort to get baby to sleep my Well Rested sleep courses can HELP your baby fall asleep independently, sleep through night, and take more predictable naps! 1:1 coaching available starting at 3 months! Your toddler only falls asleep if you lie next to them. You’ve tried sneaking out but they wake up the second you move. Here’s what happened: their nervous system learned that your presence is required for sleep. Without you, they feel unsafe. This isn’t manipulation. It’s attachment. But they CAN learn to feel safe without you lying there for hours. The key is gradual support reduction while maintaining connection. Start your routine with 15 minutes of focused connection time. Fill their emotional tank before sleep. Then when you put them down, stay nearby but don’t lie down. Sit next to the bed. Brief pat. Calm voice. If they protest, wait before responding. When you do, keep it boring: “It’s sleep time. Lie down.” Each night, move slightly further away. Chair next to bed. Chair by door. Outside the door. Their brain learns: I’m safe even when mom isn’t right here. Within 1 to 2 weeks, you get your evenings back. If you want to stop being trapped in your toddler’s room every night, comment SLEEP and I’ll send you the link to grab my sleep training guide. Important: Make sure you’re following me so you actually get my DM so it doesn’t get lost.

Babies do not need to “learn” how to sleep. They already know how to do it. The Biological Fact: studies show that in the last two months of pregnancy, a fetus sleeps for 90% of the time. They do it effortlessly because they are in an environment that is perfectly contained, rhythmic, and 100% safe. Then they are born, and the culture tells us: “Just put them down, they need to learn independence.” And when they protest, we are bombarded with toxic myths: - “He is manipulating you.” - “You are creating a bad habit.” - “If you pick her up, she will never learn.” Here is the truth: sleep is a vulnerable state. To fall asleep, a human being (adult or baby) must switch off their internal alarm system. For a baby, the only signal that turns off that alarm is Proximity. They aren’t fighting sleep. They are fighting separation. Your closeness isn’t a “crutch.” It is the biological requirement for their nervous system to down-regulate. If you want to fix sleep, stop withdrawing support and start offering safety. I’ll handle the science, you handle the cuddles. 💕 –––––––– Do you want to understand what “Safety” means for YOUR child? It’s not the same for everyone. Some need touch, some need silence, some need movement. Decode their unique needs with the Decoder Quiz inside my Starter Kit. Comment SURVIVAL and I’ll send you the link to the Kit. –––––––– I’m Chiara, and I don’t do sleep training. I decode your child’s sensory code to fix family sleep. It’s the neuroscience-backed approach I’ve used to help over 100k families in Europe finally find peace at night. @chiara.baiguini Credit: Unknown (DM for credit)

I used to dread bedtime. Not because of the baby, but because of the night I knew was coming. Rocking for ages. Feeding again... and again. Laying there half-asleep, scared I’d roll onto her. Watching the clock hit 2am, then 4am, then 5:30am. And everyone kept telling me, “That’s just how babies are.” But something in me felt like it didn’t have to be that hard. So I started paying attention. Not to rules or sleep training charts, but to her. Her tiny cues. Her natural rhythm. Her connection needs. I made one small shift. Then another. And suddenly the chaos became predictable. Gentle. Peaceful even. By 3 months both my girls were doing 9+ hour stretches. No cry-it-out. No forcing independence. Just responsive routines and simple rhythms that made all of us feel safe. 👉 Want the exact step-by-step gentle system I used with both girls to get longer stretches, better naps, and calmer evenings? 💛 Comment “SLEEP” below, and I’ll send all of the details straight to your DMs, so you too can start getting longer stretches (maybe even tonight). 😍 #gentlymama #babysleeptips #newbornsleep #postpartumtruths #momlife wannabediary sleephelpformoms babysleeptips tiredmom babysleephelp newmomlife

I've recently seen a lot of videos of parents seemingly having the time of their lives at night, inferring that was only possible because they chose to sleep train. This may seem like very obvious information but did you know that you DON'T have to sleep train your baby to be able to hang out with your partner at night?! You DON'T have to sleep train your baby to still get good sleep, couch rot, disassociate on the same cushion, doom scroll, etc?? It's wild! But it's true!!! I didn't sleep train either of my children, my husband and I lay next to both of them while they fall asleep every night, we respond to them when they need us at night, and we STILL have all the couch time our little hearts could desire. We even watched a movie together the other night!! (okay it was across two nights but that's because I go to bed at 8:30pm lol) FTM me thought sleep training was the ONLY way to be able to do any of that. I promise, it's not! I will say though you *also* need to have realistic and developmentally appropriate expectations. I didn't come out of the room after bedtime until my baby was like 3 months old. There were still nights after that where I would sit down and 30 minutes later get back up if someone needed me! But that's OKAY! If you want to sleep train, okay! You'll notice I don't say a single negative thing about that choice in this caption! But you don't HAVE to if you don't want to. That's the big difference! You can still be rested, and on the couch hanging, and enjoying your life WITHOUT having to! I really did not know that was possible as a FTM 😂 Did you also think sleep training was the only way to get your life back? Any non sleep training positive stories you can share for parents who don't want to but are worried it's the only choice?!

Comment TAME to get a 🔗 to my Taming Tantrums Mini Guide for just $5 that will teach you how to manage and de-escalate your child’s tantrums in 10 simple steps! Tantrums are a regular occurrence with my highly emotional 3 year old, but we move past them so quickly every single time using the strategies I’ve learned over my career working with young children. Most importantly, I never “give in”, but I always give emotional support via co-regulation (this is backed by tons of neuroscience). You’re not “giving in” by hugging and loving your child when they’re upset or “raising a spoiled brat”. The only way you do that is by giving them the objective of their tantrum which in this case would have been more TV. I stayed firm on my boundary while offering lots of support, coping strategies, affection, and empathy because the only way out of a tantrum is THROUGH. Of course, yelling, hitting, punishing, or distracting would also “stop” the tantrum, but any of those approaches would come with so many long-term negative psychological effects. This approach teaches children that tantrums will never work WHILE helping them build up key regions in their brain 🧠 related to emotional self-regulation so that they can grow up to be well-adjusted adults.
