I’ve never been so full off of 500 yen before! 😋 I’d been wanting to join a Japanese cooking class since moving to Japan and I’m so glad I finally did! It was an unforgettable experience where I not only learned how to make traditional Japanese food (washoku), but I also got to speak with locals. I will definitely be joining another cooking classes in the future! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ #japantrip #lifeinjapan #japanesefood #japanesecooking #japanlover

🍙 Taste of Japan – Cultural Experience Class This is Human Academy Japanese Language School in Japan This week, our Japanese Cultural Experience class stepped into the kitchen for a hands-on food adventure! 👩‍🍳✨ Using a rental kitchen, students explored authentic Japanese home cooking — not just by learning about it, but by making it themselves. 🌸 This week’s menu: ● Futomaki (thick sushi rolls) ● Tonjiru (pork miso soup) ● Shiratama dango (sweet rice dumplings) From rolling sushi to shaping dumplings, everyone worked together, communicated in Japanese, and shared lots of laughter along the way. 🤝🍲 And of course… food you cook yourself always tastes better. 😋 Experiencing culture through cooking is one of the best ways to understand daily life in Japan. At Human Academy, we believe real learning happens when you live it. 🇯🇵✨ What Japanese dish would you like to try making next? 👀 #HUMANACADEMYJAPANESELANGUAGESCHOOL #StudyInJapan #JapaneseCulture #StudentLifeJapan #CookingInJapan

I passed JLPT N1, but this little taiyaki shop deserves some of the credit. For those of you who don’t know, taiyaki is a fish-shaped pancake-like sweet w many filling options (sometimes savoury ones too!) The first time I came here was around 9 years ago, when I was just beginning life in Japan. I had come with zero Japanese background. Everything felt unfamiliar. Even ordering food or asking simple questions could feel huge (practiced ordering coffee for an hour on end and just that made me feel like a superhero, lol). But in Fukuoka, there was this little taiyaki shop: ライムライト(来夢来人). It’s read Raimuraito — “Limelight” — but written with the kanji 来夢来人: 来 = to arrive 夢 = dream 人 = person Quite literally, a place where dreams and people gather. Back then, the owners let me stay for long hours while I studied Japanese, chitchatted with me and answered my often stupid grammar-related questions, and always gave me free treats. I came to Japan in September of 2017 with no Japanese. In December 2019, I passed JLPT N1. And honestly, that journey was built not only by textbooks and classes, but by places like this. By people like them. By being welcomed before I fully knew how to belong. Earlier this March, I went back to Fukuoka and visited them again. They still remembered me. They still had the plushie I had gifted them (makes me weep 😭😭) If you’re ever in Fukuoka please go say hi to them 🩵 And tell me a certain Swa-chan referred you! PS: I love all the savoury flavours but they have a sakura Fuji flavour which is SO good too!! And they have a soft cream machine!!! #Fukuoka #JLPTN1 #StudyInJapan #JapanLife #taiyaki

If you're an introvert traveling in Japan, here are my recommended classes to recharge your battery. 1. Wagashi Making in Kyoto $75 USD (@wagashiissho): Learn to make traditional Japanese sweets with Yasue, a wagashi artisan! 2. Matcha Making in Tokyo $18.35 (@matcha_making_japan) A calming hands-on tea class. Pro tip: book through Klook for the best price. 3. Kintsugi in Tokyo $56 (@tnca_omotesando) The art of repairing broken pottery with gold — very meditative experience. You can book through Viator. Navigating an international vacation makes my brain tired so it's nice to have a break, add these classes to your Japan itinerary!

The 5-Minute Japanese Food Activity Your Students Will Love 🇯🇵 Save this for your next lesson 👇 Step 1 – Show the Food 🍣 Display images of Japanese foods: • Sushi • Ramen • Mochi Ask students: "Which one would you try?" Step 2 – Teach the Words Students repeat after you: • すし (Sushi) • ラーメン (Ramen) • もち (Mochi) Add actions: 🍣 pretend to roll sushi 🍜 pretend to eat noodles 🍡 pretend to squish mochi Movement = better memory. Step 3 – Quick Game Say the English word. Students race to do the action + say the Japanese word. Example: Teacher: “Ramen!” Students: slurp noodles + say ラーメン! Step 4 – Culture Bonus Ask students: "Do you think sushi in Japan is the same as in Australia?" This creates a quick cultural discussion. This entire activity takes 5 minutes and works from Kindergarten to Year 6. And if you want entire Japanese units already planned (games, slides, worksheets, speaking activities, culture lessons…) That’s exactly what we create at Languages Made Easy.
