To obtain, something of equal value must be lost.” On a surface level, it reflects the mechanics of alchemy in the story, but symbolically, it becomes a profound commentary on life itself.
This principle challenges the idea of shortcuts or “free” gains. It is a metaphor for sacrifice, balance, and accountability. For the Elrics, it’s a painful lesson that drives their evolution. Their failed attempt to bring back their mother, which costs Al his body and Ed a leg and an arm, is a tragic proof of this law in action. As the story unfolds, however, the show complicates this idea, revealing that the world is not always fair, and that not all exchanges are equal or just—especially when power is abused.
Ultimately, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood suggests that while the law holds alchemical truth, the deeper human truth lies in striving to make meaning out of imbalance: giving without expecting, forgiving without repayment, and fighting for others even when there’s no personal gain. It is a story about growing out of rigid equivalence and learning what it truly means to be human.

All art is a portal, but this opened a world. The word ‘Puja’ is an offering of flowers and light. What more would the creator desire except for beauty and illumination?
I offer everything. Every morning and every evening the site was marked as sacred, not just symbolically but physically with fire and incense at dusk. When we talk of repatriation, may it not just be a return of objects but a return to a way of being, a return of sacredness, a return to worship and adoration.
May we remember that art is nothing without spirit, intention and attention (life) and that is the sacred responsibility of the artist.
Over the next few weeks I will unpack the magic of this desert and these flowers. But for now- an invocation

FEItalian movie “There’s Still Tomorrow” symbolically captured the struggle women faced to get voting rights. The small act of women wiping off lipstick reveals how fragile women’s voting rights were.
Churches were powerful opponents : In Italy, priests cited the Vatican’s Casti Connubii to argue women belonged at home, not in politics. Similar sermons in Ireland and Malta warned that voting for women defied God’s plan. In the U.S., Cardinal Gibbons claimed woman suffrage would harm family values. In New York, Tammany Hall opposed women’s votes and fought 19th amendment to keep power.
London? Politicians like Disraeli said no way to women voting, and Queen Victoria agreed!
And when words didn’t silence women, violence did. In 1913, British suffragette Emily Davison was trampled after stepping onto a racetrack, likely trying to pin a suffrage banner on the King’s horse. She died four days later—a shocking reminder of the risks these women faced. In the U.S., Alice Paul and others endured violence by men, beatings and force-feeding during the 1917 “Night of Terror.”
So, was the West always progressive? Hardly.
Indigenous women in Canada waited until 1960 to vote. Black women in the U.S. faced voting barriers until 1965.
And the last modern Western democracy to grant women the vote? Liechtenstein—in 1984.
From wiping off lipstick to risking their lives, women paid a heavy price for a basic right. Surprised?

One night They discover a mysterious children's book called Mister Babadook, which describes a sinister creature that torments those who become aware of it.As Amelia reads the story strange and terrifying event begin to unfold blurring the line between imagination and reality.
As the presence of the babadook grows stronger amelia's mental state get deteroriate. She becomes haunted by grief, exhaustion and paranoia, while samuel desperately tries to protect her from creature. Ultimately, Amelia confront her inner demons. Realising the babadook is a manifestation of her repressed sorrow and rage. In the end, she learns to live with the darkness rather than destroy symbolically feeding the creature in the basement, representing her acceptance of grief.
