ST🚨 LEGAL UPDATE: Bill 60 – A Fairer Balance in the RTA! ⚖️
The Ontario government has tabled Bill 60 (Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025) — bringing long-awaited reforms to the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 to make LTB proceedings faster and fairer.
👉 Goal: Faster resolutions. Clearer processes. A fairer balance.
Key Changes:
🔹 Own Use Compensation: No one-month payment required if 120 days’ notice is given (N12).
🔹 Non-Payment Notice: N4 notice period cut from 14 to 7 days.
🔹 Tenant Counter-Claims: Must pay 50% of arrears before raising issues (s. 82).
🔹 LTB Reviews: Deadline reduced to 15 days for more predictability.
