🌍 At nearly 60,000 miles, the arctic tern holds the record for the longest annual migration of any animal on Earth. Over a 30-year life, these birds clock enough miles to fly to the moon and back — three times. 🌙 They’re chasing endless summer, following the sun from pole to pole to maximize feeding time. Here in Alaska, arctic terns average about 30,000 miles a year. When sprinting, they hit 40 mph and can cover nearly 500 miles in a single day. This is Day 16 of 31 Sir Reel Facts. Week 3 is all about Seabirds! 👇🏼 Would you chase endless summer if you could? 🎶 Music: “Smile” by Aves via Artlist.io 🎥 Footage: Charles J. 😱This Tiny Bird Travels 70,000 KM Every Year!! Follow For More  Check My English Page 🐦 This bird travels 70,000 km a year — almost twice around the planet! 🌎 The Arctic tern migrates from the Arctic to Antarctica every year — the longest migration on Earth. 🧭 Meanwhile, the bar-tailed godwit from Alaska flies 12,000 km NONSTOP over the Pacific Ocean — 9 days without food, water, or rest. 🔬 Birds have a natural GPS, navigating using the stars, Earth’s magnetic field, and even smells. 🧠 And the coolest part? They pass this exact route to their chicks — who follow it perfectly on their first flight. 🛫 Bird migration is nature's invisible highway in the sky. ❤️ Like if this blew your mind. 💬 Comment “BIRD BOSS” if you think this is insane! #BirdMigration #ArcticTern #NatureFacts #WildlifeWonders #GeographyNerd #AnimalSuperpowers #PoleToPole #EarthFacts #LongestJourney #InvisibleHighways #GeoFacts #HistoryReels #ScienceInSeconds #NatureReels #SmartScroll #KnowledgeDrop #WildEarth #UnderratedFacts #ExplainedSimply #PlanetEarthStories longest bird migration, arctic tern migration facts, bar-tailed godwit flight, natural gps in birds, bird migration explained, migration routes of birds, animal superpowers, wildlife travel records, geography facts 2025, earth to antarctica bird

Where Are My Kids? / The Mat Sometimes chicks get separated from their parents. Sometimes they aren’t able to find them again. Thankfully this isn’t one of those instances. The path out of the beach is a long way (for a tiny chick) from the Tern nesting area. It’s mostly wide open - lots of opportunities to be plucked off by predators. At least these chicks found refuge in that plastic mat. #tern #commontern #beach

The birds in this video are little terns. They come to the UK over summer to breed - though this is happening less and less every year. They make their nests on the beach amongst the sand and the pebbles, but they're running out of beach! Humans take up so much space and are awful at sharing it. This is having a particularly negative effect on the little terms because, the little coastline which is left untouched for them is frequented by people (particularly dog walkers). On first impression this doesn't seem very damaging because the number of little tern deaths caused by dog attacks is very small. However, as you can see in this video, their mere presence causes distress to the birds and causes them to take flight and temporarily relocate. While staying here in the UK, these birds are doing a constant cost-benefit analysis in their head. Is the likelihood of their chicks successfully fledging higher than the likelihood of their own death? The birds don't know the statistics of how likely they are to die each time they see a dog, they just know a predator is approaching so their perception is that an attack is imminent. At a certain point, the number of times dogs have come in close proximity gets too high for the little terns, and they perceive the risk too great. So they leave the colony. If they haven't had chicks yet, then they now won't try again until they come back next year. And worse than that, if they have had chicks, the chicks are abandoned and will die. The problem with wildlife disturbance isn't that it directly kills animals, it prevents them from reproducing that year so they can't continue their lineage, and the population enters drastic decline. This is true of the little tern but also so many other species, particularly here in the UK. So please be careful where you walk, pay attention to signs that indicate breeding areas and most importantly do NOT approach an animal's dwelling during their breeding period - particularly if they are a migrant species! #wildlife #conservation #wildlifeconservation #birdconservation #wildlifedisturbance #migratorybirds #groundnestingbirds

🐦✨Tiny Travelers with a Big Story✨🐦 The California Least Tern is one of the smallest tern species, measuring less than 9 inches from beak to tail feather. Despite their size, they carry an unfortunate heavy title — one of the first species listed under the Endangered Species Act in 1973. These migratory seabirds journey thousands of miles, spending winters off the Pacific Coast of Central and South America, then flying north to Baja and California each April. 🌊 They nest on coastal dunes, and their eggs and chicks blend perfectly into the sand — nature’s built-in camouflage. 🏖️🐣 A small bird with an incredible tale of survival and resilience! Fighting with your sibling over food is truly a universal problem 🐟🍴   Common terns nest in colonies on sandy ground near water, where chicks can find cover in low vegetation. They mainly eat small fish but also rely on crustaceans, insects, and sometimes even steal from each other.   #EarthCapture by @peanut.chu.adventures . . . . #CommonTern #Siblings #BirdsOfInstagram
