OH“Two Spirit is a shared heartbreak” is another phrase I’ve heard from the traditional 2S elders in my circle. They say it, not in a negative way, just in the sense that many Two Spirit people are empaths. They are so in tune with emotions that they pick up and carry some that aren’t their own, too. And the state of homophobia, transphobia, in our nations is heartbreaking. It’s tough to ignore.
My journey with my identity has been a long one to this point, and hasn’t been easy, but boy has it ever been beautiful and SO worth it. And it will continue to be.
