On May 1st 1972, BMW Motorsport GmbH was established, an event that would change the history of motor racing forever.
It spawned the birth of the some of the greatest road going sports cars ever built, the BMW M Series, and it all started with this car..
This is the very first car constructed by the newly formed works competition department, the first M Car and the first of twenty works CSL racers.
Tested and developed by Works drivers Hans Stuck and Harald Menzel, this car was used to develop the iconic Batmobile kit and was raced extensively by the factory throughout the 1973 season before it was sold by the works in 1974 to Team Hurtig Libra to run in the IMSA championship in the USA 🇺🇸
