Number reversals driving you crazy? Before we jump to “they should know this by now”… remember: most objects in the world look the same when flipped. Numbers don’t. That’s what makes this tricky. Here’s the system I use 👇 ✔ Write the tricky digit large on A3 ✔ Display it at eye level ✔ If a student reverses it, they pause and write 5 correct copies on the poster It keeps expectations clear, builds muscle memory, and stops you derailing your main lesson to fix it. In every age problem, there are only 3 things happening: 1️⃣ Something is unknown (define your variable) 2️⃣ Ages increase with time (don’t forget + years!) 3️⃣ There is a relationship (times = multiplication) If you can spot the relationships… You can build the equation.
