This Raleigh staple has been open since 1997 and is one of those places locals often recommend for good reason. We came hungry and left very full after sushi, takoyaki, spicy seafood udon, katsu curry, and a miso ginger–glazed Chilean seabass . And somehow… we still made room for yuzu tiramisu 🍰 If you love Japanese food and haven’t been yet, save this post to put Waraji on 2026 list and follow @lindaeatswolrd for more Asian eats around the Triangle. Last night I grabbed my friends and made them wait to eat while I zoomed in on each dish at @aaktunnc 😁 (there are some perks to being friends with me, but there is also some waiting and desperate attempts to capture them with their food with elegance and grace…) Aaktun is the newest restaurant concept from @beunosdiaz- chef and James Beard semifinalist of @littlebullnc @cielitotaqueria @aaktunnc @nctataco Here’s what we ordered: Papaya Salad Charred Brussels Pan Y Butter Crudo Huli Huli Skewers Encodado Del Mar Short Rib Sancocho Tres Leches I was a big fan of the Brussels- they were packed full of flavor and slightly sweet. And the entree winner for me was the encodado Del Mar! The salmon had a crispy skin and flavorful curry broth that was perfection! I’m happy to see this new restaurant open up in Durham! Get excited!! @asalidessertscafe is now offering *Daily* brunch from 9 AM to 3 PM. . . We were #hosted to try their brunch offerings, and we loved trying some of it. Our favorite was the Kenafe French toast, but we also relished the Labneh toast and the strawberry mocha and strawberry matcha latte. . We cannot go to Asali and leave without getting desserts, so obviously we got some lemon pistachio cake and packed some macarons to-go too! We regularly go there to try their seasonal options along with the OG items (don’t sleep on the Kenafe cheese and baklava cheesecake). . . Do note that several of their desserts contain gelatin, but their staff is always so good at letting us know about the ingredients. . . #asali #brunch #919eats #ncfoodfinds #ncbrunch
