GSVIJAYAWADA: The AP government has decided to conduct admissions to four-year BSc (Nursing) courses through NEET-UG. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has approved the proposal submitted by the Medical and Health Department in this regard. From the 2026-27 academic year, students aspiring to join nursing programmes will be required to appear for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET-UG).
In the 2025-26 academic year, admissions were carried out through APNCET (AP Nursing Common Entrance Test) for the first time. However, since the test was conducted only in Vijayawada, student participation was lower than expected. Out of the total 16,000 nursing seats, nearly 4,000 remained vacant. Earlier, admissions were based on Intermediate marks or EAMCET.
Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav, after reviewing the situation with senior officials, noted that State-level entrance exams failed to attract students from outside AP. He emphasised that NEET enjoys nationwide recognition, ensures uniformity, and helps students plan their careers better. Officials also pointed out that NEET’s fixed schedule will prevent delays in nursing admissions. Private nursing colleges in the State have also supported the move, stating that NEET-based admissions will bring transparency and credibility. Following these consultations, the Health Minister forwarded the proposal to the Chief Minister, who has given his nod.

EXMy little princess has graduated. Throughout the week there has been celebrations, a dinner and today, the actual graduation, all in honor of this years graduating class. I’m so proud of Brynlee.
It’s been a reflective time for me as Brynlee is my oldest and this is a first for me to have a child graduate. At the celebration dinner for Seniors and their parents last night I was reflecting back to my time in high school. I had a wonderful experience but also have had one big regret all these years.
I regret not making more of a focused effort to be a friend to all, especially the underdog. Like many typical high school boys, I had my friend group and was oftentimes “too cool” when the special opportunities to offer an encouraging word or standup for a classmate who needed an advocate or friend presented itself. I know I could have done better and this has weighed on me all of these years.
It was in that reflective moment that I saw Brynlee cheering on one of her classmates. Not only was she cheering on that particular classmate, but every single opportunity that night to give encouragement and celebrate her classmates, she took full advantage of.
It caused me to think back to the many conversations and moments over the years where Brynlee stood up for the underdog and was a friend to those in need. She truly is an advocate for all.
In her Senior Tribute, one of her teachers wrote: “I am so grateful that I got to know Brynlee during the last two years. She is perhaps the kindest student I have ever met. When I first met her last year in AP Government, she instantly impressed me with the way she welcomed others in class and was accepting of their differences. She literally makes friends with everyone and is not exclusionary in anyway. This quality will serve her well in the future as she breaks down boundaries between people, something I am certain she will do.”
Brynlee, you are such a special individual. Thank you for being such a wonderful example to all of us of Christlike love and acceptance of everyone. The sky is the limit Bryn. I couldn’t be more proud of you. I love you!
