5 Peaceful places in Acadia National Park: #1. Great Head Trail. It starts at the far end of Sand Beach with granite steps which lead to open ledges that have excellent views of the beach and Beehive. 2. Jesup Path. This is a wheelchair accessible trail with a beautiful boardwalk through a white birch forest. It has interpretive signs along the way with benches to sit and enjoy the views. 3. The Somesville Bridge. This is one of the most photograph locations on the island and is located in Somesville which is home to the oldest settlement on Mount Desert Island. A beautiful location. 4. Bass Harbor Head Light. This beautiful lighthouse is in Tremont, Maine and marks the entrance to Bass Harbor and Blue Hill Bay. It is one of the three lighthouses managed by Acadia National Park. It is a peaceful quiet place but only at certain times. At sunset the small parking lot is overflowing. Best time to go is the middle of the day or in the winter when I’ve often been one of very few people here. 5. Little Hunters Beach. This beautiful little stone beach is hidden from view along the Park Loop Road but well worth looking for! Get a lobster roll from @biteintomaine - visit the headquarters for @llbean in Freeport Maine. Visit the shops and see the history of this amazing company nestled in this beautiful quaint town. - go check out bass harbor for sunset - stay and visit @visitbarharbor. Filled with tons of stays and delicious food and it’s the perfect launching point to visit the national park. A MUST see in Acadia National Park… Share this with someone that would love to experience this place ➡️ Follow @wanderlusttravelcouple for more buckelist travel and National Park inspo 👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏼 Thunder Hole is an iconic viewpoint inside of the park that’s perfect for those “bad weather days” 😍 The best time of the day to visit is 1-2 hours before high tide as that’s when the waves will have best force and timing to create the dramatic splashes 🌊 When the waves are big Thunder Hole can produce a boom as loud as a chainsaw or jackhammer (around 100 decibels) which is where it gets its name 🌩️ Thunder Hole is pretty easy to find and pretty easy to get to. It’s located right on Park Loop Road. It has its own parking area and gift shop. It’s also a stop along the very famous Ocean Path Trail 🅿️🥾 Despite its relatively small size… Acadia regularly ranks in the top 10 most visited National Parks (attracting over 4 million visitors a year).
