MIMuhammad Yunus[a] (born 28 June 1940) is a Bangladeshi economist and statesman who is the outgoing fifth chief adviser of Bangladesh[b] since 2024. Yunus pioneered the modern concept of microcredit and microfinance, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. He is the founder of Grameen Bank and the first Bangladeshi to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
After the famine of 1974, Yunus started to work on poverty alleviation in Bangladesh. He began experimenting with microfinance in the late 1970s. In 1983, the Grameen Bank was established. The success of the Grameen microfinance model inspired similar efforts in about 100 developing countries and even in developed countries including the United States.Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for founding the Grameen Bank and pioneering the concepts of microcredit and microfinance. Yunus has received several other national and international honors, including the United States Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2010.

Dumarating talaga yung panahon na sabay-sabay silang aalis, at ikaw… maiiwan ulit mag-isa sa classroom. Tahimik na ang upuan, wala na ang mga tawanan, kulitan, at mga kwentuhan sa araw-araw. Doon mo mararamdaman na totoo pala ang separation anxiety ng isang adviser.
Masaya kami na nakikita kayong unti-unting lumalakad papunta sa mga pangarap ninyo. Pero hindi rin maiiwasan na malungkot… dahil nasanay na kaming kasama kayo araw-araw.
Pero bilang mga guro, ito talaga ang hangarin namin — na maabot ninyo ang mga pangarap ninyo sa buhay.
Balang araw, sana bumalik kayo sa paaralan… hindi na bilang mga estudyante, kundi bilang mga taong may mga kwento na ng tagumpay, hirap, at karanasan sa buhay. Kwentuhan ninyo kami.

The funny thing is, this woman – who claims to be a Christian – is openly asking people to donate in exchange for “divine blessings.” Quick lesson in religious studies: this completely goes against Christ’s teachings on non-possessiveness.

Iranian threats have stalled the vital oil route, sending gas prices surging.
“You open up the toolkit, and the tools in there, the options range from marginal, through symbolic, to deeply unwise. Escorts are a sideshow, strategic stock releases are a sideshow,” says McNally. “Gas tax holiday, sideshow.”
McNally says he supports the U.S. attacks on Iran. “I believe that what President Trump is doing in terms of defanging the Iranian regime is principled, courageous, and correct,” he says.
