PLWhy are people SO irritated when they think about vegans? Is it in your imagination? Or are all vegans just extremely annoying?
Research has established that when people were asked to contemplate their feelings about vegans and several other common prejudice target groups, only drug addicts were evaluated more negatively than vegetarian and vegans. The study authors stated that unlike other forms of bias (e.g., racism, sexism), negativity toward vegetarians and vegans is not widely considered a societal problem; rather, negativity toward them is commonplace and largely accepted.
So if you are veggie or vegan and have noticed negative reactions from friends, family, co-workers or strangers, hopefully this video can provide some comfort that it’s probably not personal.
