I’m leaping for joy! I have a website! Link in my bio. To have my own website at this point is quite a momentous occasion. It’s been a long time coming. My work hasn’t been the focus for the past few years as I’ve been very busy being a Mum. I have three gorgeous boys - one of whom isn’t with us any more. My oldest is eight and my youngest is four and it’s been all-consuming! I spend quite a lot of time in soft play centres… I’ve also been a carer to my father who passed away earlier this year. Although I’ve worked through this time, I’ve never really been able to focus on sharing my work with my community. Launching my website and recently, my instagram, marks a shift to being more strategic and proactive, and slightly less reactive. Now, more than even, it’s important to raise awareness and champion inclusive work. With Access to Work and the threatened cuts to benefits, it’s becoming harder to be a disabled person, a disabled dancer and a disabled mother living in this world. We need to be visible. We need to nurture the shift that’s happening in ballet companies and wider communities where difference is being appreciated. It’s about shining a light on equitable access which is fair and just - and deserves to be seen by a global audience. Since they are not allowed to do it at home and in public places, it's legit legal to spray on the walls of @heavenspotsg without having to invite the mata over. The kids had an hour of spraying fun using spray paints! Besides doodling in their sketchbooks, they could express their arts in a different way this time and the trio enjoyed the session thoroughly! I am a happy mummy too because they had an hour less from the screens. 🤣 A different and unique experience and definitely a good avenue to let go and destress. Inspired by the 1936 Federal Theatre Project where 18 cities and towns presented their own interpretations of the anti-fascist play “It Can’t Happen Here,” Arts For EveryBody will bring together people and communities. On July 27, 2024, artists, civic leaders, and community health providers in 18 cities and towns across America will simultaneously premiere an array of large-scale participatory art projects which will draw on the sounds, styles, and stories of their communities to answer the prompt “No place like home.” Chicago certainly understood the assignment.
