I wanted to share with you the amazing mural @stephenymmiller designed and painted for us in our backyard and next to our outdoor bath tub. We just put up plywood outside, painted it with primer and it was ready to go. This mural is stunning with Hibiscus flowers and hummingbirds- which if course symbolize our last name Tzintzun. Many cultures including the Purépecha and Aztecs celebrated the mighty hummingbirds as great creatures for their incredible strength to travel long distances alone. According to a recent article in National Geographic “In Aztec mythology the hummingbird represents the powerful sun god Huitzilopochtli, conceived by his mother after she clutched to her breasts a ball of hummingbird feathers—the soul of a warrior—that fell from the sky. Mexican elders say Huitzilopochtli guided the Aztec’s long migration to the Valley of Mexico, and thus the hummingbird is the symbol of strength in life’s struggle to elevate consciousness—to follow your dreams.” #gaden #mural #knowyourhistory

These tablets, discovered in ancient cities like Nineveh and dating back to the 2nd millennium BCE or earlier, are some of the world's oldest literature, revealing shared flood myths across ancient Near Eastern cultures. Hinduism: Manu, the first man, is warned by a fish (Vishnu in disguise) about a great flood, builds a boat, and is guided to the Himalayas. Aztec Mythology: A deluge is sent by a god; Coxcox and his wife survive in a hollow tree trunk and land on a mountain.
