BB“I had no control over it, I wasn’t sure what was happening.”
Bea, 12, started pulling out her eyelashes when she was seven - and three years later, began pulling out her hair.
Experts believe there’s between 2% and 5% of people who live with persistent picking, pulling and biting, or body-focused repetitive behaviour (BFRB).
Her mum Josie said the situation had become “worrying” and said doctors had initially been dismissive until one “said the word trichotillomania for the first time”.
Now Bea has been support by the charity BFRB UK and is now in a better place.
