EVThis video is long overdue, but here’s why I stopped wearing jirai kei! 💕😳
1. Fast fashion.
Recently I’ve been really thinking about my consumption when it comes to all of the new products I buy. Whilst I still buy from some fast fashion brands and this is by NO means meant to shame those who do, I just feel it’s really hard to keep following trends and attempt to avoid fast fashion at the same time.
2. No new designs.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but since I moved to Japan I just felt like the fashion had stagnated a little bit, and brands were recycling the same silhouettes and designs. Of course this is just my personal taste!
3. Himekaji.
My favourite fashion type has always been older, pre 2014 Himekaji and it was actually what I started wearing when I got into j fashion! I realise that I preferred it to almost everything else :D
4. Rules.
As I’m getting older, I’m really tired of netizens making rules around fashion about what does / doesn’t count as certain styles. I just find that it goes against what it means to be alternative and I would rather be just an alternative person in general! I also find that it allows me to be more creative with what I’m wearing.
5. The community.
I loved all the friends I made and I also love everyone who is so wonderful and supportive in this community, but a lot of people are also very cruel (especially to newcomers and internet personalities) and it makes me sad.
6. The quality.
The quality of a lot of these brands has gone downhill and a lot of the new clothes I bought fell apart pretty quickly. I would rather spend my money on secondhand pieces that I know I love and will last a lifetime !
7. The colour scheme.
I realise that I’m not the hugest fan of dusty pink or purple and I would rather wear baby pink or pale pink clothes that you tend to see with older Liz Lisa pieces!
