Ahhh…. The long battle between doing art the old school way or adapting to new technology. Everyone has their own opinions. My personal view is that you need to know how to do it the old school way, because technology is not reliable… but if I can find a way to make my art more efficiently, look cleaner and waste less… I’ll do it. I’m running a business, speed is the name of the game. I need to create my art and move onto the next project as quickly as possible. This does not work for all art forms, and I totally respect the people that put time and effort and love into everything that they create, but for what I do, I’m always looking for a way to be faster. I will be creating this mural in Southie, and I will be using VR to create it. Will this work? I have no idea, but I’m gonna give it a whirl. I wasn’t able to set it up exactly how I wanted on the wall today because of all the ice on the ground… and honestly, I was scared of breaking my neck… but you get a pretty good idea of what it’s going to look like. I’ll be interested to see if this works, if it’s any faster than doing a sloppy grid or free handing…. OR if it’s a complete flop. We’ll see I guess. It’s all about failures and trying new things. At least I get to use the VR to show my clients what their murals will look like on the wall before I start. #art #technology #adapt #artist #artlife #boston #bostonartist #southie

It’s my birthday today, it’s also been a month since I moved into the house I bought. Every day it teaches me something. I’ve been DIYing these walls with more determination than skill, but it’s starting to feel like mine. The studio upstairs is ready, and downstairs I carved out a gallery in the basement. Now the real work, painting again….begins. Grateful for the friends and messages that have carried me through; it’s been a month of splinters, plaster, and small triumphs, and I wouldn’t trade it. #paintings #paintingstudio #bostonartist #gouache
