Acting Principal Levis McNeil-Stewart speaks to the importance of movement and physical activity for all children, and especially for persons with disabilities. Tricia McLetchie, one of our dedicated Athletic Assistants in Community Sport, shared how AAs help create those moments every day. From simple games to guided activities, they make sure every child feels seen, supported, and able to participate in their own way. On 30 March, the @humanrightscouncil(HRC) adopted without a vote draft resolution A/HRC/61/L.5 on the rights of #personswithdisabilities: disability-inclusive digital technologies & infrastructure, including transport & housing. In its resolution, the HRC - welcomes the @unitednationshumanrights (OHCHR) reports on the rights of persons with disabilities & digital technologies & devices, including assistive technologies, & on disability-inclusive infrastructure, including transport & housing -requests OHCHR to present an oral report to the HRC on the implementation of the @unitednations Disability Inclusion Strategy across its programmes & operations at its 65th & 68th sessions with international sign interpretation & captioning, & also requests OHCHR to make its report to the Secretary-General on the Strategy publicly available in an easy-to-read version & accessible format -decides that its next annual interactive debate on the rights of persons with disabilities will be held at its 64th session & will focus on the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (#CRPD): lessons learned & challenges in the development of human rights standards & norms, & will have international sign interpretation & captioning -decides to hold, at its 67th session, an interactive debate on the rights of persons with disabilities, which will focus on measures to prevent all forms of exploitation, violence & abuse of persons with disabilities -requests OHCHR to prepare its next annual thematic study on the rights of persons with disabilities on the 20th anniversary of the CRPD adoption, & to prepare its subsequent study on measures to prevent all forms of exploitation, violence & abuse of persons with disabilities, & requests that such stakeholder contributions, the studies themselves & an easy-to-read-version of them be made available on the website of OHCHR, in an accessible format, prior to its 64th & 67 sessions; -encourages the task force on secretariat services & accessibility for persons with disabilities to report orally to the HRC on its work & the progress made in the implementation of it accessibility plan. #HRC61
