Recipe below for the cake I make most months with many variations…. And the only cake I can remember from heart! Simple Chocolate Hazelnut Cake (gluten free) Rich, nutty and deeply chocolate. A cake that feels just right at the end of summer, and easy to adapt depending on what’s in the pantry. 150g butter 200g hazelnut meal or 200g whole hazelnuts, roasted and blitzed into a coarse meal 200g dark chocolate 150g brown sugar ½ tsp baking powder 5 eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract Optional: finely grated orange zest, a spoon of espresso, or a pinch of sea salt Preheat oven to 160°C. Grease and line a round cake tin. If making your own meal, roast hazelnuts until fragrant, rub off loose skins if you like, then blitz to a coarse meal. Melt butter and chocolate together until smooth. Whisk eggs and brown sugar until pale and thick. Fold through the melted chocolate, vanilla and baking powder, then gently stir in the hazelnut meal. Add orange zest here if using. Pour into tin and bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until just set in the centre with a slight wobble. Cool completely before turning out. Serve simply dusted, or with softly whipped cream and seasonal fruit. It’s beautiful with berries, figs, or slices of orange. I change it every time, depending on the mood and the market.

Okay I had to try this recipe that is all over Instagram right now… and honestly I didn’t believe it would work. A whole apple turning into a chocolate cake/brownie situation?! But here we are… and it’s actually so good. Soft, chocolatey, slightly fudgy and ridiculously simple. I’m currently trying to stay in a calorie deficit, so finding little desserts like this that feel like a treat without going completely off track is a win. This is what I used 👇 🍎 1 whole apple 🥚 1 egg 🍫 ½ cup cocoa powder 💪 1 scoop tasteless protein powder (mine is from Low Carb Haven) ✨ 1 tsp baking powder 🍫 Optional: chocolate chips on top (sugar-free ones work well) Method Blend the apple and egg together until smooth. Mix through the cocoa powder, protein powder and baking powder. Pour into a small baking dish and sprinkle chocolate chips on top if you want. Bake at 180°C for about 30 minutes. And that’s it. I still don’t understand how an apple turned into a brownie, but I’m not questioning it because it’s delicious. 😂 Also… at one point I clearly licked the spoon while it was blitzing because I ended up with chocolate on my face in the reel. Did you notice it… or was I the only one distracted by the brownie? #bexmakeupandskincare #healthybaking #lowcaloriedessert #proteinrecipes #easyhomebaking

Fueling our bodies with good food 🤎 Recipe below Today Scarlett and I made my favourite flourless chocolate budin — only 3 ingredients, easy to make, and a great little treat when you want something sweet but simple. Flourless Chocolate Budin (Healthy Version) Ingredients • 2 medium apples, roughly chopped or a cup of stewed apples • 2 eggs • 1/4 cup cacao powder Optional alternative: • 1/4 cup chocolate protein powder + 2 tbsp cacao powder Optional if needed: • Dash of water or milk (to loosen the mixture) Optional for sweetness: • Maple syrup, honey, or apple syrup if you like it sweeter. Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 170°C. Line a small baking dish with baking paper. 2. Blend the apples if using raw, eggs, and cacao (or protein + cacao) until completely smooth. 3. If the mixture is too thick, add a small dash of water or milk. 4. Pour into the baking dish and smooth the top. 5. Bake for about 30 minutes, until just set in the centre. 6. Let it cool completely before slicing — it firms up as it cools. 💡 Tip: It tastes even better after it cools and is great as a healthy sweet snack or post-workout treat. #motherhood #easyrecipe #flourlesschocolatecake #mumfitness

The other day my toddler tried actual lazy cake for the first time… and ever since then he keeps asking for it 🥲 It’s one of those desserts many of us grew up with, but the traditional version is usually loaded with condensed milk, sugar, and processed ingredients. So I decided to make a healthier version at home — same nostalgic taste, but with better ingredients I actually feel good about giving my kids. Both my toddlers happily ate it, and I didn’t have to worry about what was inside 🤍 Sometimes it’s not about removing the foods we love… it’s about making them in a way that nourishes our families. 🍫 Ingredients • 250g digestive biscuits (broken into chunks) • ½ cup dark chocolate (70% cocoa) • 2 tbsp cacao or cocoa powder • 2–3 tbsp coconut sugar • ½ cup warm milk • 1 tbsp coconut oil • 2–3 tbsp coconut flakes 👩🏻‍🍳 Instructions 1️⃣ Break the biscuits into medium pieces. 2️⃣ Melt the dark chocolate with the coconut oil. 3️⃣ Stir in cacao powder, coconut sugar, and warm milk until smooth. 4️⃣ Mix in the coconut flakes. 5️⃣ Pour the chocolate mixture over the biscuits and gently mix until coated. 6️⃣ Transfer the mixture onto baking paper and shape it into a log/roll. 7️⃣ Wrap it tightly with the baking paper and twist the ends. 8️⃣ Refrigerate for 3–4 hours until firm. 9️⃣ Slice into rounds and enjoy 🤍 If you want the recipe, comment LAZY CAKE and I’ll send it to you ✨ #toddlersnacks #healthiertreats #nourishedkids #momlife #healthydesserts nourishedbynuha

Another family birthday cake… and this one really humbled me. Chocolate cake with dulce de leche mousse 🤎 It tasted incredible, but the finish didn’t quite match the vision, and honestly, that’s been a bit of a reality check lately. Working with a baby has completely changed how I create in the kitchen. Between feeds, naps, and constant interruptions, perfection just isn’t realistic right now. Everything just takes a little (or a lot!) longer. This isn’t a cake I’d serve to a customer, but it is a reflection of this season. And I'm learning to be okay with that. Still, 4 layers of chocolatey goodness and one of my favourite flavours I’ve made in a while 🤎 Proof that things don’t have to look perfect to be really, really good! If you're in a time in your life where your best looks different, this is your reminder that it's still enough 🤍 #glutenfree #coeliacmelbourne #dulcedeleche #honestmotherhood #epostres

Most protein bars suck… Feels like you’re eating chalk or wet cement. Marketed as “healthy” but really if you take a look, they be lying. Low protein, high sugar, high fat and a list of ingredients that really don’t belong in food. (Real food) But having good food on hand is also important. Most of us are busy, and like snacks on the go. High protein and high fibre has been a huge part of my body re-composition. Cooking and baking with Bear has been something we do together, and often. I love of cooking never died when I stepped out of the restaurant industry, or closed my catering company. Cooking and baking for me has been a massive healthy outlet, but the dream of doing it for a living never really left my heart. 99% of what we eat I make. The only reasons people eat out is because they don’t know how to cook/bake, don’t have the time, or it’s a reason to connect with others. Cooking for other people is intimate in my eyes. Pouring love and energy and heart into something to be shared. In June I met my boyfriend. In my Tinder profile I had I can out cook your mother I am the put my money where my mouth is kinda gal. Obviously, the statement is true. Which is where my new company got the name from Notyourmotherskitchen.co My bf helped me bring the dream back to life. And both him and bear are my very honest recipe testers… If you saw the first protein bar thing I tried to make you would fire me lol But it’s time for a new adventure. I love coaching. I have no plans to quit. But bringing good food to NB, AND teaching people how to cook virtually is where my heart is right now. These Million Dollar Bars destroy macros of most protein bars available in stores right now. 20g P l 3g F l 3g S I’ve got big plans. The vision is nation wide availability. Teaching cooking internationally. If you are local and want sneak peek deets drop FOOD below. If you aren’t and want to learn how to make restaurant level food at home with nutrition in mind, drop COOKING below.
