OKThis is one of my favorite quick stops near 17-Mile Drive — the views are insane.
📍Bird Island Trail, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Most people walk this loop slowly, stopping every few minutes because the views keep changing.
Coves, turquoise water, sea lions, birds, and dramatic cliffs all in one short trail 🌊
It’s less about hiking and more about pausing to take it in.
Quick tips:
🥾 Easy, well-marked loop trail with multiple viewpoints
📷 Bring a zoom lens — you’ll spot sea lions and birds on the rocks
🌤️ Go on a clear day for the best water colors
🚶 Take the side paths toward the coves — those are the best views
⏰ Morning or late afternoon has softer light and fewer crowds
🚗 Limited parking inside; you may need to park outside and walk in
