My luggage got lost in the Dallas airport one year and I vowed to never check a bag on an international or connection flight again. I’ve held strong to that, and packing for a 14-day trip to Scandinavia was no exception. I shared my packing list and some outfits I took that were easy to mix and match, but how did it all fit in my backpack and carry on? 👆🏻 This backpack was awesome. It’s an Amazon find and has several pockets and expands. I packed all my toiletries, makeup, laptop, cords, glasses, jewelry, snacks, and even the family sweatshirt my dad had made for the trip. My suitcase is Away but Quince has one that’s nearly identical that my son uses and it’s half the price. Both have the option to expand too. Using these compression packing cubes helped a ton. I was able to fit: 3 light weight jackets 1 sweater 1 sweatshirt 2 t-shirts 1 long sleeve 4 pants 1 pair of shorts A couple workout items Socks Undergarments (why does that feel classier to say than underwear 😆) 2 pairs of shoes Laundry sheets (to wash some clothes half way through the trip) Umbrella A couple hair tools and brushes So, are you team carry-on only too? Maybe you’ve seen the 5-4-3-2-1 packing method trending on your Instagram feed—and honestly, it couldn’t be easier. ➡️ You pick the items, the numbers stay the same. Here’s my version: 📍5 tops 📍4 bottoms 📍3 pairs of shoes 📍2 outer layers 📍1 dress ➡️ That’s it! These 15 pieces = 21 outfit combinations—one for every single day of a 3-week trip. No overpacking. No “just in case” items. Tons of versatility and lots of options, and it all fits in my carry-on suitcase! ⭐️ Of course, my travel capsule wardrobe rules still apply: ➡️ Start with your shoes (2 pairs… okay, 3 max) ➡️ Each top works with every bottom, and vice versa ➡️ If an item doesn’t work in at least 2 outfits, it doesn’t come on the trip. ⭐️ Pro-Tip 1: For a shorter trip, try the 4-3-2-1 method. ⭐️ Pro Tip 2: Eliminate that 3rd pair of shoes…if you dare! Packing doesn’t have to be stressful, and it doesn’t get easier than this. Get creative with your items. My best tips for packing small? ✔️ Pre-plan outfits by day: the fear of the unknown is what causes overpacking. Eliminate the “what ifs” by visualizing all your outfits in advance so you know what you’re bringing. TSA won’t allow them, and most luxury products come in travel sizes or can be decanted. ❌Bulky Neck Pillow Travel pillows can be bulky and rarely worth it. I use a rolled-up sweater or scarf instead. Unless you are flying coach overseas then bring 1 really good neck pillow that compresses. ❌Extra Purses One crossbody, a flat clutch is my go-to combo. The rest just take up space. ❌Extra Shoes “Just in Case”

My beloved red roller of 10 years recently met its end when the wheels lost a battle with an escalator in Doha. I replaced it with the Away Bigger Carry-on, and I AM OBSESSED. This bag is brilliant, holds everything, and moves super smoothly with or without a bag on top. I’m not sponsored by Away—just obsessed—but hey, @away if you’re listening, I’m already a huge fan! 2. THE EVERYWHERE BAG also by Away = When I had to order a new roller bag, I was wooed by this very practical underseat bag. I was skeptical that it could hold as much as my long-time bestie Osprey backpack, but WOW does this bag hold a. lot. So, last week Ryanair announced that they will soon be increasing their small cabin baggage allowance to 40 x 30 x 20cm. That’s an increase of 5cm… YES 5CM GUYS 😱🤯😆 Joking aside, it does actually increase the overall size by 20% and now you’ll be able to take 24 litres of stuff with you - result 💪 So let’s take a look at 3 different bags that promise to maximise these new sizes… Which do you like the look of?!
