TOMonster catfish from a small boat🤯😳! I managed to hook this giant catfish while fishing with a float and baitfish💪. I prefer to fish as stealthily as possible when I know the catfish could be wary of anglers. Fishing with a float gives you the best chances to do so💯! You pick a spot where you expect the catfish to be and simply let your float drift on the wind or current. When there is no wind or current, you can also drop your float on the spot and row away with minimal disturbance😊. Once you’re gone, the only thing the catfish can detect is your baitfish – no boat shadow, no electric motor, and no sound from the fishfinder. This is exactly what makes this method so effective for catching big catfish😎.
The only important factor when choosing to fish with a float is having a good understanding of 1) the water you’re fishing in or 2) the likely locations of the catfish😃. When you know one of these, you can present the bait in the best possible spot, increasing your catch rate😇.
Some other good tips include not needing to present your bait very close to the bottom; 2 meters above will work. You want to avoid having your bait too close to the bottom. As catfish tend to hunt upwards, all catfish swimming above your bait will generally not go for it. Therefore, you can set your bait at 6 meters when fishing in 10 meters of water or at 2 meters when fishing in 4 meters of water😁.
Next time when you are fishing from the boat and you see catfish approaching your bait but don’t bite. Make sure to put a rod out with a float and bait, this is likely a true joker rod and can catch you that one extra fish on a though day🔥. It happend to me more than once that the float rod went delivering a fish over 2 meters💪💪.
