@milliparklar Genel Müdürü Sayın Kadir Çokçetin'e ve rehabilitasyonu yürüten @polonezkoyzoo'ya çok teşekkür ederim. 8 ay süren rehabilitasyon çalışmaları sonucu çok mutlu bir goril gördüm.
Süreç niye uzadı eleştirilerine Çokçetin " Sadece gorillerden oluşan bir rehabilitasyon merkezine gitmesini istedik. Nijerya’dan tekrar hayvan ticaretine konu olmaması için garanti sözü aldık.Bu nedenle süreç biraz uzadı. Çünkü Zeytin'in sağlığı ve güvenliği bizim için önemli olduğundan bu süreci hassasiyetle yürüttük. Şu anda sürecin sonuna geldik, yakın zamanda Zeytin'i uğurlamayı planlıyoruz. " dedi.
Bu aşamadan sonra uluslararası kuruluşlardan takibi konusunda destek bekliyoruz. Süreci yakından takip eden @rootsandshootstr ve @janegoodallinst çok iş düşüyor. Zeytin'in en rahat edeceği en güvenli yeri bulmak lazım.
Türdeşlerinin kabul etmesi çok hassas bir konu.
Umarım herşey onun için iyi olur.
Hayvan ticaretine geçit vermeyen Gümrük Muhafaza Kaçakçılık ve İstihbarat Müdürlüğü'ne de çok teşekkürler. İşleri zor. Bavullar içinde hayvan kaçırmaya çalışanlar var. Geldikleri ülkede bir şekilde valize koyup gümrükten geçiriyorlar. O nedenle burada dikkatli olmamız gerekiyor.
Bu tür hayvanları almak,satmak,beslemek yasak.
Yolda bulsanız dahi teslim etmek zorundasınız. Piton yılanını yolda bulanlar oluyor :) Utanmasalar goril de bulurlar.

MIManta and devil rays are in trouble, and time is running out.
All 9 known species are now threatened with extinction. In some places, their populations have dropped by over 90%, driven by overfishing, meat and gill plate trade, and false claims of “sustainable” catch.
This November, world leaders will meet at CITES CoP20 to decide their fate.
We’re calling for Appendix I protection, to end international commercial trade and give these ocean giants a real chance of survival. 🌊

Be warned, oceanic whitetips are not for beginners. They are built different. They don’t hover at the edge of visibility or casually cruise past. They are interested in you, and will approach head-on. Then they’ll circle back and do it again, studying you closely. It’s intense, but there’s an evolutionary reason behind it.
Oceanic whitetips evolved to survive the open ocean, where food is scarce and encounters with other life are rare. For millions of years, being bold and investigative meant staying alive. What they didn’t evolve for is us. Today, their curiosity draws them to fishing boats and tuna longlines, pushing this once abundant predator to the brink of extinction.

Bei der #CITESCoP19 gab es einen hoffnungsvollen Vorstoß: der nationale Handel mit den Tieren soll nun auch da verboten werden, wo er illegalen Handel befeuert. Das ist dringend nötig, denn Pangoline gelten als meist-geschmuggelte Säugetiere der Welt! 😱
Mehr als 1,1 Millionen von ihnen wurden allein zwischen 2000 und 2016 illegal gehandelt. Eigentlich ist das komplett verboten. Aber immer wieder gibt es trotzdem Meldungen über tonnenschwere Funde von Pangolinschuppen an Flughäfen.
Sie kommen oft auch aus Afrika nach Asien. Jeder Fund bedeutet tausende, gar zehntausende tote Schuppentiere.
Die Schuppen der Tiere, die aussehen, wie Tannenzapfen, werden als Wundermittel verkauft und auch ihr Fleisch gilt als Delikatesse. Ihr Problem: Weil sie sich bei Gefahr zusammenrollen haben Wilderer leichtes Spiel. Mehr Infos über den Link in der Bio

WWFact of the day: There are more tigers in captivity in Asia than there are in the wild.
Keeping track of over 8,900 captive tigers in Asia is critical to ensuring these tigers aren’t illegally sold into the illegal wildlife trade, fuelling demand and putting wild tigers at risk.
To stop this, governments need to create national databases with identifiable details for every captive tiger. This makes it harder for facilities to “lose” tigers into the illegal trade and ensures accountability.
At the recent CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) Conference of Parties ,countries agreed to enhanced reporting on all Asian big cats, which includes tigers, to track current trade trends, and identify what’s working and where more effort is needed. With improved data, governments can make better decisions and take stronger actions to end the illegal trade of tigers. Tracking captive tigers is one of the keys to breaking the cycle of exploitation.
