Top five things to do if you're suffering from colon health issues like incomplete evacuation of waste, chronic constipation, diarrhea, IBS. Number one, you need to wake up between 5 to 7 a.m. That's right. The colon is active between 5 to 7 a.m. and the peristalsis which is the downward moving wind principle is active. Waking up between 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. at least allows you to sit up straight and aid the downward movement of waste. Number two is movement. If you're not moving your body you're going to be constipated. Remember the food has to travel down 22 feet long small intestine and 6 feet long large intestine. That's literally a three-story building. You need to move your body because remember when you walk your legs are like the blender. The blades that are moving inside a blender allowing the food to churn in your stomach small large intestine. This allows the movement of food from the top to the bottom thus aiding elimination of waste. Number three is good fats in your diet. Coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, avocados on the whole. These are great foods that have fatty acids in them that helps in lining your gut walls. You can also have ghee which has a compound called butyrate which is a great short chain fatty acid that helps in lining the gut walls allowing smooth movement and evacuation of waste. Number four, you need to stay away from laxatives that are over the counter like isabgol and such and even caffeine because they have a drying effect on the colon while allowing elimination of waste. So in the long run it actually leads to chronic constipation. Instead you can meet an ayurvedic doctor and get churnams like trifla churnam or avipati churnam. 6 months since my colon resection… It’s called volvulus—where your colon twists & flips on itself on and off throughout your life causing havoc. For me, it was made worse by endometriosis and all the adhesions that come with it It mimics all the symptoms of endo: diarrhea, vomiting, extreme bloating, constipation & intense stomach pain During my first endo excision surgery, my bowels were in the wrong spot because the adhesions had pulled them away so no one thought twice about it The surgery was next level! I’ve never been so claustrophobic or frustrated in my life… After 4 days in the hospital and 4 more at a hotel, I was finally allowed to go home This was hands down the hardest surgery I’ve ever had to heal from! Even though in the moment I told my mom I wish I hadn’t had the surgery It changed my life forever and I’ll always be grateful for moving to Australia just for this reason alone… my doctor would have never found this in Canada!
