Colonel Sanders (1890–1980), born Harland David Sanders, was an American entrepreneur who built one of the world’s most famous fast-food brands. After working many jobs—including farmhand, firefighter, and gas station operator—he began selling fried chicken at a roadside restaurant in Kentucky during the 1930s.
