ST5 things I don’t do as a crocheter!
1. I don’t ever use the magic circle. Instead I use the “ch 2 method” which is an alternative to starting in the round.
2. I don’t yarn over. Instead I yarn under. You can see a side by side comparison of the two in my last Reel. When I make stitches other than sc, I do a combination of yu yo.
3. I don’t do gauge swatches. This is simply because I only make amigurumi and in my opinion it’s completely unnecessary for that.
4. I don’t enjoy crocheting in the car. I know a lot of people enjoy this and are able to get a lot of work done during long car rides but crocheting in the car often makes me feel sick so I don’t do.
5. I don’t follow a lot of crochet trends. Not because I’m a rebel, I often just don’t realize what’s trending until it’s too late. 😂

MIHope you don’t mind my take on an old trend, ya girl has been busyyyyy 😛
1. It’s going to take A WHILE for you to become comfortable holding a crochet hook, try different ways of holding the hook while crocheting and see which one feels natural/most ergonomic.
2. Don’t buy a bunch of hooks when you start right away, you’ll probably end up finding a favorite hook type and you’ll never use the ones you originally got…
3. Don’t buy a bunch of yarn right away for the exact same reason previously stated lol
4. Take breaks when learning to crochet, heightened emotions like frustration won’t get you anywhere.
5. Always prioritize your health. If you’re feeling pain, stop immediately. I don’t care if you want to crochet or have a deadline, taking a break by choice is better than not being able to crochet ever again.
6. Keep your first completed projects and at least one project every so often to look back on your growth, even if they’re ugly…
7. If you’re designing a pattern, write everything down! No, you will not remember it.
8. You don’t have to say yes to every idea/request/order. Saying no is scary but so is being miserable.
9. If you’re going out in public and bringing a WIP, always double check you’re bringing the right hook! You’re most likely not remembering to bring a hook at all or you’ll bring the wrong one.
10. crocheting should be fun.
