Mudroom Reveal!⬇️⬇️ I can’t believe the day is finally here! This mudroom was truly a labor of love and we couldn’t be happier with it. It went from a kind of catch all, pee stained room to a room that we will get SO much use and storage out of. See my stories (highlights) and more below for all of my favourite details. First and foremost, I have to say a huge thank you to @bmccooeyphotography for pretty much doing 95% of the work in here (we had hired someone to do the floors), including filming for me while I was standing in on a movie. Some of my favourite things about this room: -ALL THE STORAGE. We now have so much room for all of our shoes, winter coats, paperwork etc. and it is giving us tons of extra space in our closets upstairs. -The custom look. By adding extra trim and molding to the IKEA cabinets, you would never know that these weren’t custom built ins. -The washable rug. I highly recommend one of these for any entry / mudroom, especially this time of year. Just throw it in the washing machine and it’s like new. -The bench with custom cushion. Brenddan hand built this bench based off of another reel that he saw on IG (boy is he ever handy). It has already been so useful for putting on shoes, etc. We found the custom cushion on Amazon. We sent in the measurements, chose a colour and it arrived just as we’d hoped. Thank you all for your patience on this reveal! I hope it was worth the wait. Designer Suzanne Smith collaborated with @cmbteaminc on this barn converted home to revitalize the existing space turning it into a remarkable expression of a Farm Style Home. In the great room new post and beam timbers were added by @lakesregiondesigngroup , the kitchen was given a face lift with new doors, paint and an island (to name a few). Custom built ins and expertly crafted millwork consider every detail. All thats left to do is sit back with family and enjoy the picturesque grounds with sweeping views of Lake Winnisquam and the surrounding mountains!

DIY IKEA built ins are complete!! Here are the details! When we lived here in April this one wall in our living room had a section where the shiplap was different than the rest, looked as if a door had been there, but it was really the corner exterior of the home— just not sure why they didn’t continue the shiplap throughout! When people visited, they instantly asked about this section and why it was the way it was! We placed our sofa in the center of the room and the tv above the fireplace, so we decided to build custom built ins for more storage, character and to hide the ugly wall section! Here were are steps: We used 2 Billy bookcases and 2 wardrobes from @ikeausa and 1 set of upper kitchen cabinets from @loweshomeimprovement On their own they were not going to be tall enough, so we built platforms with drawers under each of the 5 sections! Since we also knew we wanted to add lights, we also built a header above for the lights! To make it appear even more built in we added molding and wider faces to the fronts of each shelf! After everything was secured to the wall, we primed and painted everything Heritage Park by @behrpaint and made a herringbone wood top for the middle section from scrap wood we had on hand! We then installed the plug in wall sconces and wired them into a switch to easily turn on and off! We then placed a peel and stick grass cloth in the backs of the bookcases to coordinate with the center exposed wood wall! At this point we have added pulls to the closets but still need to add them to the drawers and cabinets and I have 2 gold lamps arriving tomorrow for the center section! I also now get to style all of the shelves for Christmas.. so be on the lookout for that!
