COAbandoned Cars Series pt:106-DAPCO Hi-Railer
Parked in 2002, this railroad mantainence vehicle was considered ahead of its time back in its day. The purpose of these trucks were to ride along the tracks and check for defects in them, and then report them so that they can be fixed to ensure railroad safety is present. Up until 2001, this truck was commissioned in Nebraska by the Union Pacific Railroad. After the technology was considered “outdated”, it was shipped to the Danbury Railroad Museum where, in 2002, it was parked in the corner of an active rail yard, where it has sat ever since.
