How close is the nearest beach? Ok, this is something we get asked all the time. We are actually almost an identical distance from both North Sands in Salcombe and Hope Cove. This is the journey to Hope Cove. Of course we’ve sped it up but in real time, this drive was a few seconds over 5 minutes. Hope Cove is great for families and STUNNING at sunset. It’s a glorious beach with rock pools when the tide is out and inlets to explore. Plus there are streams for the much littler ones to splash about in and build dams. Dogs welcome out of season but not May-Oct and it’s a great place to start the coastal path for a beautiful walk all the way to Bantham beach. Great food and both @hopeandanchorinn and @thecovedevon and this time I noticed a new coffee shack from @thecuratortotnes 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼 Hands up if you have special memories of Hope Cove? HOW IS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN? England, your system sucks. Ok, a little history here. Deciding to sell @thesmurfhouse was an incredible tough decision. We put our heart and souls into this place but quite simply, we just couldn’t afford to keep it anymore. The cost of turnovers were eye watering and we were running the business at a loss. With the renovation happening here in Leeds we just couldn’t make it work. It sold off market back in November to a family who wanted to live there permanently so we were happy that it would be lived in permanently. We were meant to exchange this week and days before exchange they gave us an ultimatum… Drop the price by £60k or they would walk away from the sale 😳😳😳. Neither us or the estate agent agree that we should do that and so here we are! All a bit shellshocked tbh. Not only are we thousands of pounds in with solicitors fees but we also had to cancel every booking we had all summer (at an expense to us as we had to pay the agency fees). How is there no come back for people who do this? Anyway, here we are and we’re taking it as a sign that the universe didn’t want us to sell it. So, we have a whole Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winters of bookings completely free so if you fancy a break in Salcombe just drop me a DM. Still trying to get our heads around everything but thanks to @harrietgeorgeproperty for all your hard work on the sale 💔💔💔 So many of you have asked us what’s been happening with The Smurf and I just haven’t been able to face talking about it so huge apologies if I’ve avoided answering your questions but hopefully it’s all clearer now. Ad as it’s our holiday let although feels crazy marking it as one. But you know I like to follow the rules.

This is @ameliasflowerfarm a spot to pick your own flowers as well as a cafe and shop. It’s really charming, with added details making the site more fun and the views from the cafe are stunning over the flower farm and river teign. After our trip we walked to @thecoombecellars for some cocktails which was a short walk from the farm. The staff were so friendly and the flowers beautiful.
