Total’s EACOP project is a monster oil pipeline that already destroys communities and livelihoods, well before being complete. This means we still have time to stop them! We visited fishers in Chongoleani, Tanzania, and learnt how the local community has been forced by the Tanzanian government to sell their land for 1/6th of its market value. On top of that, fishers are now cut off from their fishing areas, a huge economic disaster that forced many families to take their children out of school. European corporations, like France’s Total Energies and other EACOP investors, wreak havoc on territories and communities all around the world. These corporations are planting the seeds of climate chaos by burning even more oil and gas. Therefore, we have to push Total Energies and other investors to stop the EACOP project. Join the #StopEACOP coalition and fight for everyone’s future!

With a length of over 1400 kilometers, the EACOP is set to become the longest heated oil pipeline in the world. ‼️Activists are currently in prison for speaking out against the EACOP. The pipeline has already displaced thousands of people, it is a climate and human rights nightmare. ➡️We cannot stand by, as European banks and companies are complicit in the human rights injustices by investing in the project. Akizungumza katika mahojiano kwenye kipindi cha Jambo Tanzania cha TBC1 akiwa mkoani Tanga leo Julai 22,2025, Mrutu amesema kuwa mradi huo ni ushirikiano kati ya Tanzania na Uganda, na tayari kilomita 510 za mabomba zimeunganishwa, na kilomita 50 nyingine zimeishafikishwa ardhini. Mrutu amesema kupitia mradi huo wananchi wamepata fursa mbalimbali ikiwa ni pamoja na ajira ambapo takribani Watanzania 208 wameajiriwa na wanaendelea na kazi katika mradi huo. Ameongeza kuwa Serikali inaendelea kutekeleza majukumu yake katika mradi huo ambayo ni pamoja na kupeleka fedha, na kutoa ushirikiano kwa wawekezaji wa nchi jirani.
