ST⚠️ Trigger warning: seizures / epilepsy ⚠️
Since today is the last day of Epilepsy Awareness Month, I wanted to share what some of my epileptic seizures can actually look like. In this video you’ll see two very different seizures: a convulsive seizure and a non-convulsive one where it almost looks like I’m just “spacing out,” my eyes drift to the left and my body barely twitches.
Both are epileptic seizures. Not all seizures look like the dramatic shaking you see on TV. Some are quiet. Some are subtle. Some are easy to miss unless you know what you’re looking at.
I’m sharing this to educate, not for pity (so no I don’t need any prayers thank you tho😅) . If this helps even one person recognize a seizure, know when to step in, or understand a loved one with epilepsy a little better, then it’s worth posting. 💜
(Seizures are caught on video when possible per medical team instructions but I also share publicly for awareness purposes)
