🌍✨ Want to engage directly with the United Nations as a young person? Then you should know about the ECOSOC Youth Forum! The ECOSOC Youth Forum is the annual UN youth forum bringing together young people from around the world with Member States, Ministers, UN entities and key stakeholders to shape global policy discussions. It’s a key space where youth contribute ideas, solutions and innovations for the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs When & where? 📍 UN Headquarters, New York 🗓️14–16 April 2026 ➕ EYF Youth Blast on 13 April ➕ Special sessions on Financing for Development, SIDS, and Youth & AI 🎯 Why it matters The Forum creates direct dialogue between youth and decision-makers, highlights youth-led initiatives, and allows young people to contribute to major UN processes like the HLPF, SDG Summit, UN Water Conference, FfD outcomes and the Pact for the Future 👥 Who can apply? Young people from diverse backgrounds, including youth organisations (formal & informal), grassroots groups, and marginalised and vulnerable communities 💡 There will be opportunities to engage beyond attending including speaking, facilitation roles and contributing to the Youth Outcome Report ⚠️ Good to know At the moment, no financial support is available. Any funded opportunities will be shared later with registered participants. 📝 How to register? You can now apply through your National Youth Council to become the next 🇪🇺European Union Youth Delegate to the United Nations!🇺🇳 ❓How? You need to send your application to your EU Member State National Youth Council, considering the modalities that they have agreed. You can consult the @youth_forum website for the list of NYCs. ❓What do you need? 🔅your CV 🔅short motivation letter ❓What requirements? 🔅 Be a citizen of an EU member state 🔅Be under 30 at the time of application 🔅Be able to devote approx. 40 days per year to the role 🔅Be able to advocate for youth rights 🔅Be interested in IR, diplomacy, Human Rights, and EU/UN activities 🔅Be available to travel to New York and other locations at least three times per year. 🔅Have excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. ❗️National Youth Councils will have until April 17th to nominate their candidates. Multilateralism Between Design and Disruption: UN Leadership of the Next Era🌐🇺🇳 With Secretary-General elections on the horizon, one question stuck with me after the ECOSOC Partnership Forum, which my dear friend and colleague @ishaanshahun recent post brought it back into focus: What does leadership look like when multilateralism is under strain and when delivery is non-negotiable?🤔 For those who want to lead, our message from Major Group for Children and Youth & SDG7 Youth Constituency was simple: ➡️ Unwavering adherence to human rights. ➡️ Clear acknowledgment of serious humanitarian crises wherever they occur. ➡️ Recognition of youth and stakeholder partnerships as structural pillars of multilateralism - not only shaping in it, but in implementing it. The issue now isn’t ambition. It’s whether the multilateral system is prepared to govern delivery with integrity, equitably and transparency. This is a moment of institutional choice - one which I believe will determine whether multilateralism is able to adapt in an era defined by design and disruption. Human rights are at risk, but we know that the United Nations is committed to protecting them everywhere, especially for young people. Specifically, the OHCHR @unitednationshumanrights helps young people in three main ways: 🔅Helping youth report human rights violations and engage with human rights mechanisms 🔅Bringing youth voices into global human rights discussions 🔅Empowering and supporting youth activists and defenders around the world. But it’s not that. There are plenty of concrete mechanisms and initiatives that youth worldwide could take part: The Human Rights Education Initiatives OHCHR Fellowship programmes (for example, fellowship on Minorities, indigenous people, ect) Advisory Boards Consultation with young people And the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, makes it very clear: youth participation is not just symbolic.
