The “Pause Before You Post” campaign by @dpcireland highlights a growing concern: sharenting. Parents proudly sharing their children’s photos online may be unknowingly contributing to a lasting digital footprint that exposes kids to privacy risks and potential exploitation. Research shows that parents share around 63 images of their children each month. Alarmingly, only 20 photos are enough to create a realistic deepfake. Details such as birthdays, school uniforms, schedules, or even friends can help strangers reconstruct a child’s world, exposing far more than intended. The campaign’s core message is simple but crucial: pause before you post. A thoughtful moment can make all the difference between celebrating your child and safeguarding their future. STORY TIME 📖👉🏽 I adopted a Gambian baby which lead to the exposure of a corrupt international charity.. Back in 2021 I started volunteering for an international children’s charity called Project Rescue Children.. This would eventually lead to the owner, Adam Whittington, asking me if I wanted to adopt the baby in this viral video at the end of 2022 - and when I say viral I mean like nearly 41M views viral!.. THIS very video gave me the army I needed to fight this monster. ⚔️ He told me, and the whole internet, that he and his “team” in The Gambia had rescued this baby from the hands of traffickers when she was just a newborn. He said she was sold to traffickers before birth by her mother and she was left in a basket, in the middle of a busy market, to be collected just hours after she arrived here on earth. It was honestly the most heartbreaking story and it inspired me to step in and help this child in any way I could.. Except, none of it was true. Shortly after this video of me meeting my new daughter was taken I would be asked by Adam Whittington to sign a 10 year non-disclosure agreement. My refusal to sign and my determination to fight for the baby would inevitably lead to the unravelling of Project Rescue Children’s facade. It sparked an exhausting now nearly two year long social media battle. But I continued to investigate, research and expose him with REAL evidence almost daily for an entire year until the story was picked up by the BBC who did further investigations and released all our findings in a documentary. That’s when we learned that this baby HAS a mother and was never orphaned. He’d exploited her and her mother and stole thousands of pounds that were donated to this child. To this day, he continues his scams in developing countries, avoiding accountability by travelling and staying in one place no more than a few days creating jurisdictional issues. So the best thing we’ve got right now is to continue spreading awareness about this fraudulent charity. You will find the full story and evidence against Project Rescue Children and Adam Whittington in my story highlights “Rabbit Hole” series.

My thoughts ⬇️ “Child on child SA is less harmful”: COCSA can be profoundly traumatic for kids, even in cases where the initiating child a) was abused themselves or b) did not understand the severity of their actions. These factors can explain the abuse, but do not excuse it, and should never be used to minimize the harm caused to the victim. “They’re so young, they won’t remember it anyways”: A growing body of research suggests that trauma, even in infancy, may lead to life-long health consequences such as an increased vulnerability to mental health issues, obesity, diabetes and heart disease. It may also disrupt early attachment frameworks, impacting relational health long-term. (Lyons-Ruth et al., 2017) Also…weird thing to say to minimize or “excuse” the abuse of littles? “Kids shouldn’t get to say no to adults”: teaching ‘blind obedience’ makes children more vulnerable to grooming tactics. “I’ve told my child I’ll ☠️ whoever hurts them”: saying this can prevent a child from disclosing. A child’s abuser is often a person they know and love, and who they do not want to see put in harm’s way. They may also fear losing you as the caregiver to incarceration. “My kid is too smart to be SA’d”: this is dangerous because it assumes intelligence protects against abuse. It also puts the responsibility on the child instead of the perpetrator, ignores the manipulative tactics abusers use, and can make children less likely to disclose abuse if it happens. Additionally, it sends the harmful message that victims who were abused must not have been “smart enough,” which is untrue and deeply stigmatizing. • • #childabuseawareness #childabuseawarenessmonth #endchildabuse #endchildexploitation #bodysafety #bodysafetyforkids #bodysafetyeducation #csaprevention #mindfulparenting #consenteducation #teachkidsconsent #childhoodtrauma #traumainformedparenting #protectourkids #childprotection #consentforkids #responsiveparenting #momtipsandtricks #consentculture #parentingtips #parentingtips101 #childsafety #bodilyautonomy #mybodymyrules #cyclebreaker #respectfulparenting #consciousparenting #consciousparent #intentionalparenting #honestmotherhood

I have worked as a CSA prevention educator in schools for 8 years. I will be the first one to encourage parents to teach their kids body safety and model healthy concepts of consent/boundaries from birth. However, I will also be the first to assert that body safety education alone is insufficient, especially when we’re talking about protecting infants, toddlers and pre/nonverbal children who lack the developmental capacity to absorb and practice body safety skills. Even for older children, although there is evidence that body safety ed is absorbable by school-age kids, increases the likelihood of disclosure & reduces feelings of shame following abuse, it remains inconclusive whether it reduces the risk of victimization in the first place. Also, relying too heavily on body safety places an unfair burden on children to protect themselves. So body safety education is crucial. It allows kids to get help sooner, improve mental health outcomes following abuse, may be protective in some instances, and overall sets healthy concepts of relationships from the outset. But ultimately these are reactionary outcomes AFTER abuse has happened and therefore cannot confidently be termed the best way to “protect” them. As adults caring for littles under 6, we need to couple body safety ed with actual protective strategies that reduce a child’s risk of victimization in the first place. See comments for some strategies ⬇️ (Mendelson et al., 2015; Dale et al., 2016; Nurse, 2017; Stanley et al., 2023) • #childabuseawareness #childabuseawarenessmonth #endchildabuse #endchildexploitation #bodysafety #bodysafetyforkids #bodysafetyeducation #csaprevention #mindfulparenting #consenteducation #teachkidsconsent #childhoodtrauma #traumainformedparenting #protectourkids #childprotection #consentforkids #responsiveparenting #momtipsandtricks #consentculture #parentingtips #parentingtips101 #childsafety #bodilyautonomy #mybodymyrules #cyclebreaker #respectfulparenting #consciousparenting #consciousparent #intentionalparenting #honestmotherhood

Just because they’re family doesn’t mean consent goes out the window. Never force a child to hug or kiss anyone - even relatives. Teaching kids to ignore their discomfort for the sake of manners sends a dangerous message: their boundaries don’t matter. This makes them more vulnerable to manipulation by predators who count on silence and blind obedience from children. Instead, empower children to trust their instincts, set boundaries, and expect them to be respected. Let’s raise kids who know they’re in charge of their own bodies. • • #childabuseawareness #childabuseawarenessmonth #endchildabuse #endchildexploitation #bodysafety #bodysafetyforkids #bodysafetyeducation #csaprevention #mindfulparenting #consenteducation #teachkidsconsent #childhoodtrauma #traumainformedparenting #protectourkids #childprotection #consentforkids #responsiveparenting #momtipsandtricks #consentculture #parentingtips #parentingtips101 #childsafety #bodilyautonomy #mybodymyrules #cyclebreaker #respectfulparenting #consciousparenting #consciousparent #intentionalparenting #honestmotherhood
