Unfortunately the heartache is never-ending in rescue…I hesitate to even post this… Our kitten Mike — who I bottle fed and saved from panleukopenia as a newborn — has ocular FIP now (this is completely unrelated to Winston)… Mike has been on treatment for a few days now and so far he is thankfully showing signs of improvement. He was not eating or even able to stand up yesterday. But he started eating on his own again today, and he is active and seeking attention again tonight. 🥹🩷 I hate to get my hopes up, but I do feel like he has a good chance of surviving this. 😪 He’s still a little wobbly, and his eye is still clouded over and discolored, but that will improve with time. 🤞🏼 I’m just so sick of FIP, I wish it didn’t exist. 😢💔 Most people don’t know this, but the whole reason I started rescuing cats was because my first “foster to adopt” cat through the shelter 9 years ago, died of FIP. It was the most devastating thing I have ever gone through, just a few years shy of the treatment being discovered by a Dr at UC Davis. So treating kittens with FIP ever since then, has been a passion of mine. I have personally treated and saved over 30 kittens and cats from FIP, and have only ever lost 2 in my care, Winston being number 2. 😢

Tiny Suzie is only three months old, and she’s already fighting for her life. 💔 When Suzie was in her foster home, her foster parent noticed something wasn’t right. She was lethargic, congested, and running a fever. Before long, Suzie began showing neurological symptoms. She was wobbly, unsteady, and declining quickly. She was rushed into the care of one of our shelter veterinarians, Dr. Tips, who stepped up to foster her and begin treatment right away. Based on her symptoms, Dr. Tips suspected Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a devastating disease that was once considered almost always fatal in kittens. 😔 But today, there is hope. Dr. Tips has experience treating kittens with FIP, and Suzie started medication immediately. The treatment is intensive and expensive, each vial of the life-saving medication costs $350, but we’re already seeing signs of progress. Watching her fight so hard reminds us exactly why we never give up on animals like Suzie. She still has a long road ahead, and her treatment will require many more doses of this medication to give her the chance to grow up into the happy, playful kitten she deserves to be. Can you believe this is the condition we found Skye in? Now she’s running around like a little maniac. Watching her play, explore, and cause her usual chaos is something we will never take for granted. She’s now more than halfway through her FIP treatment and we couldn’t be more proud of her. Skye has fought so hard to be here and every day she keeps proving just how strong she is. From fighting for her life… to thriving. Our girl is incredible. ❤️

There is a suspicion of hemobartonellosis and the sample has already been sent for analysis. There is also a suspicion of FIP. Today they will send blood for a protein electrophoresis. He is not eating on his own so far, so they are keeping him warm and feeding him by syringe. As soon as his condition allows, I will transfer him to my vet. But at my vet they currently have a panleuk outbreak so we'll see for how long he'll have to stay st the clinic then!

Mansoora is fighting Feline Infectious Peritonitis… and now she is relapsing. She has neurological FIP, the most aggressive form. She was already fighting so hard… but now she needs double dosage to survive. That means one vial every 2 days. I simply cannot afford this level of treatment anymore. I have too many critical cases, too many vet bills, and over 150 cats depending on me. Without this medication, she will not make it. MR. CHEEKS! Introducing one of my most recent rescues MR. CHEEKS. He was a newcomer to a previously fixed feral cat colony and it took two days to trap him. I took him to the clinic to get neutered and fully vetted. Unfortunately he tested FeLV+ so off we went to my regular vet for an in-depth exam. He's estimated to be 5-8 years old and his teeth are in fairly decent shape except for some broken ones. The SNAP test used at the clinic is the most basic test for Feline Leukemia, so to do him justice and do the proper due diligence I had some more accurate tests ordered. Today he received: SNAP test with serum FeLV PCR test Senior blood panel If the first two tests are negative then he's in the clear. If they are both positive then the reality is that he is FeLV+, which makes finding a foster and adopter more difficult. He is the best cat though! Super snuggly and he will headbutts you with his big plush noggin. I am hoping you can help fundraise his medical costs with me. So far he's gotten neutered, with full vetting, a private exam, three blood tests ordered, and possibly a dental down the road. Whatever you guys can help with is greatly appreciated. I have many many more cats with ongoing medical issues but don't have their stories or bills I posted, but maybe we can get Mr. Cheeks's medical taken care of. Some are disabled. Some are fighting FIP. All of them were once abandoned. We’re going to a consultation with a doctor who saved Kazie when her palate had a ruptured, we had a temporary delusional improvement.... it was better for a while but Kazia still can’t eat by herself, it’s been going on almost a month now.... every day a syringe is fed several times a day. I guess that’s the only reason he’s alive First time l’ve had such a big problem with a kitten... he is getting medication for fip because all the results indicate that but no fip there is no perfect, unambiguous test. He’s been getting injections for more than a week - no effect is visible.

He can be with other cats as long as they don’t bully him. He loves sleeping on a enclosed small bed like a pumpkin or teepee. He prefers human interaction rather to play toys. Tito will also reach out with his paw if you try to walk away from him (that is his way of asking for more pets). Tito is also positive for feline immunodeficiency virus and needs help with groom with bathing wipes. Despite his FIV diagnosis, that does not stop him from being a sweet lovable kitty who deserves a loving home. He would make a wonderful companion and would thrive best in a calm environment. Tito can be very shy when meeting new people and will prefer slower and gentle introductions (with some churu treats). Once he is comfortable he develops a strong bond with his caretaker and is very talkative. Freya has already gone through so much in her short life that she should be now playing, not back at the hospital fighting for her life ❤️‍🩹 Freya has already have two blood transfusions since she was hospitalised onTuesday. Vets still don't know what's causing Freya's illness. Her initial tests results are unusual and inconclusive, and although she already battled and survived FIP two years ago, it still can't be discarded this is a relapse but in a different form. So until we get results for all the different tests carried out, she's been put on two different medical treatments for other suspected illnesses, and have also started FIP treatment, again... Her condition is so fragile that doctors believe is wiser to fight from all different fronts rather than wait for the lab results. Freya is a real warrior princess. She's literally fighting for her life, again. And still, though she's so ill, everybody at the hospital is in love with her. She's such a loving little baby. The vet bill keeps adding more and more expenses, and we now need to face the cost of buying FIP treatment. Please, Freya needs your help to get her out of this. I cannot explain with words how overwhelming it is trying to figure out how to pay for all this while Freya is fighting to survive. If you’re able to donate, even a small amount truly helps.
