WATCH: A touching yet painful scene has gone viral online — a young boy seen cleaning a clogged drainage with his bare hands in the middle of floodwaters.
“This is the reality—while government has millions, even billions, for flood control, children on the streets are the ones doing what our leaders fail to do,” said Belle Baruc, who uploaded the video.
She added that despite the funds, it is still ordinary people — even innocent children — who are left to bear the burden of fighting floods.
This should be a wake-up call for our leaders and agencies in charge of flood control and child welfare. No child should ever have to risk their health and safety for something the government is duty-bound to address.

ER🇵🇭 Every flood reminds us of what’s broken, not just our drainage, but the system that fails its people. Homes destroyed, children missing school, businesses losing everything, sickness spreading, lives put at risk. And yet, our taxes, our hard earned money are supposed to protect us from this. Where do they go?
Flood control isn’t just about concrete and canals. It’s about safety, dignity, and a chance at a normal life. Only God knows the tears of every Filipino family wading through water, praying for the rain to stop. But He also knows our resilience and our cry for leaders who will finally put people before politics. May tomorrow’s Philippines rise stronger, with true solutions, not more excuses.
And with faith and accountability, we can demand a future where our money is spent where it should be: protecting lives, strengthening communities, and giving every Filipino the chance to live without fear of the next storm. 🙏🏽
