THToday is the one-year anniversary of the passing of @dodgers legend, our beloved #fernandovalenzuela. It is also the anniversary of the start of my landmark tribute mural to him titled #FernandoManiaForever. So many incredible moments of community and compassion, unity and pride shined while I painted this mural. My heartfelt condolences to the Valenzuela family on this day and much love to all who showed love and support to Fernendo.
This November 1st which will be Fernando's birthday, the family and I will be hosting a special intimate memorial for the community to share stories and celebrate Fernando's life. We invite you to join us at the mural from 10am -2pm.
This mural is part of a two-part mural series focused on representation, cultural pride, and unity. The first mural I painted was of #ShoheiOhtani in #LittleTokyo to kick off last year's season, and this mural of Fernando Valenzuela in #BoyleHeights closed the season. These murals are separated by the First Street Bridge, which now takes on the name of #Unity bridge. I want to advocate for bridging community thru the creative process building #CommunityFirst #ForTheGreaterGood
Both of these murals will be visible from the first street (unity) bridge facing each other.

THOh, we Aries love our birthdays!
After ending a long legal battle, while navigating my way through apartment repair drama, and grieving the deaths of so many loved ones, AND STILL by the grace of God coming out on the other side weary, but sane, joyous, and even more determined to be my authentic unapologetic self, I needed to go big and celebrate my revolutions-- the one within and the one around the sun! And so last Saturday I reserved the back section of my fave-- @archerandgoat_harlem and hosted an AMAZING 3-course dinner with the folks who helped me survive it all with their good counsel, strong drinks, a shoulder to cry on, super elegant dinners, powerful prayer, and a mean lean for late night dancing. Thank you! They tried to dim my light, but y'all lifted me up and made me a beacon!🔥✨️🧡
And yes, I had folks sing me Happy Birthday twice (oops, was that me blurting out in the restaurant "we can't just sing the white version"?! [cue Stevie]😂)
