Protesters marched through uptown Charlotte on Saturday hours after Border Patrol agents began making arrests across the city, including in Charlotte’s main immigrant corridors.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the protest remained peaceful and there were no arrests. Some protesters were asked to remove face masks under a new North Carolina law prohibiting people from wearing masks to conceal their identity on public roads and sidewalks.
