And Anthony Kiedis reminding everyone why funk-rock still rules the room. “Snow (Hey Oh)” was released in 2006 as a single from the album Stadium Arcadium by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Written by band members Anthony Kiedis, John Frusciante, Flea, and Chad Smith, the song became one of their biggest alternative-rock hits. Driven by John Frusciante’s rapid-fire guitar riff and Flea’s melodic bass work, the track topped the Billboard Modern Rock chart and extended the band’s record for most No.1 songs on that chart. At the 2007 Grammys, the band performed the song during a ceremony where they also celebrated the success of Stadium Arcadium, which won Best Rock Album that year. Despite the high-energy groove, “Snow (Hey Oh)” carries a reflective message. According to Anthony Kiedis, the song is about survival and personal renewal, the idea that even after mistakes and chaos, life offers a clean slate. The “snow” metaphor represents that blank canvas.
