What Groundscrews Are Think of a giant metal screw. Like the kind you’d use in wood, but much bigger. Instead of digging a hole, pouring concrete, and waiting for it to cure (like with normal footings), you “screw” this steel shaft into the ground with special machinery. The spiraled “blade” on the shaft cuts into the soil and anchors it in place, creating an instant foundation post. It’s basically a steel post with a corkscrew tip that acts as a ready-made footing. How They’re Used They replace or supplement traditional concrete foundations or posts for things like decks, boardwalks, small buildings, solar panel arrays, and even some full-size houses. A crew drives them in using a hydraulic motor, checks the torque to verify load capacity, then builds directly on top. Have you used them or seen them before?

Definitely go explore if you’re about to build - not just garden rooms - suitable in plenty of other situations. Any foundations, ask about this first. We used them on our garden room - all built without brick or concrete.

DIY Ground Screws for Garden Room Base in just 3 hours to install 16 screws by hand Have you used them before? These were a great option for the Garden Room Base since the access wasn’t great, 50m from Parking through 2 gardens. Saved digging and disposing of soil, bringing in hardcore, wacker hire, sand, DPM, concrete with Pump hire We made our timber frame and Joists first so we could position it in place then mark where the ground screws will go. Using a 25mm drill bit to make a pilot hole for ground Screws Then manually winding the Screws in with the Help of the Dewalt Laser to keep us Plumb and Level. Marking a datum line on the tool to get us to the same depth each time. The screws have caps for the Joists to sit on, then brackets to fix them down. Have you tried ground Screws Before?
