Well in Hebrew HaShem means “the name” It is referring to the 4 letter Name of God Y h v h ‎יהוה We don’t say the actual name out of respect so we say The Name instead This is the Tetragrammaton So when the letters are rearranged It can spell out the words Haya - past - was היה Hoveh - present - Is הווה Yihiye - future - Will be יהיה More literally it means that He was He is And He will be The idea isn’t that HaShem is the past present future But that He transcends time He exits in the past present and future simultaneously And that every encounter with time is actually an encounter with God. Deeper, Hoveh means that He is continuously willing into existence You see we believe that HaShem is the essence of all reality, the life force of all, the source of all, the creator, beyond this world and yet within this world.
