🗞️ Your Council Meeting Wrap Up 🗞️ At last night’s Ordinary Council Meeting, Council received a community petition regarding the proposed sale of 89 Beach Road, South Bunbury. A report will be prepared and presented to Council within the next two meeting rounds for formal consideration. The City encourages anyone interested in this matter to visit our dedicated community information page, where you’ll find the full factual record, frequently asked questions, and information on how to have your say through the formal process ahead. Check out the link in our bio 🔗 Council also supported a couple of standard policy reviews and accepted the most recent financial management report and February budget review. Excitingly in that budget review, Council supported some additional funding for the Bunbury Women’s Club as the group continues to renovate its Prinsep Street building. It’s looking unreal! Council voted on two electoral reform matters in response to a request from WALGA seeking feedback to inform its advocacy to the State Government. Elected Members voted to not support full spill elections every four years along with not supporting compulsory voting. Meaning, Council supported the status quo. WALGA will present all local government feedback to the Minister for Local Government, Hannah Beazley, who will ultimately make any decisions on reforms. Update from Badbury Park Developer and management meeting, Swindon UK 🇬🇧 Following today’s meeting which I attended with residents from the beginning 3pm, I listened to residents & formally asked in the meeting and requested written actions from Remus and developers on key issues raised by residents including: management fees, bins, dog bins, road accidents & adoption dates, flooding, private roads, potholes and infrastructure completion. This must now lead to clear answers, actions and real improvements. I thanked everyone, residents and the community association. Welcome to the @northstoweunitycentre Centre 🎉🗝️ We handed over the keys to Northstowe Town Council who will be operating the community centre and will be creating an exciting programme of activities. Making use of all the flexibilities, the building will offer: 🎊 A main hall - A large multi-purpose hall for formal and informal events such as public meetings, visual and performing arts, practice and tuition, lectures, and demonstrations ☕ Foyer / café - An informal community gathering space which can be used to serve refreshments 🍳 Kitchens - To serve the main hall and café 💻 A base for staff, Town Council offices, reception and booking point 🗨️ Consultation / meeting rooms – Multi-purpose spaces for meetings, groups, and visiting community services – including community midwifery care 🤝 An informal shared space for community use and co-working 📚 Micro Library area 🎨 Flexible activity space - A robust ‘make space’ for arts and crafts, workshops or other potentially messy or noisy activities, connected to the secure courtyard garden ♿ Toilets including a Changing Places facility – An adult size changing bed and a hoist for safe lifting, making the building accessible for all 🌻 Outdoor space that is safe and secure which incorporates public art and celebrates the local history of the area, a theme that is carried throughout the building. 🚲 To promote active travel, 70 bicycle parking spaces are available onsite. 💚 Constructed to combine Passive House principles 💧 We've provided Northstowe with its first Ground Source Heat Pump ☀️ Solar panels 🌱 Green roof to support biodiversity 🐝 Bee houses and bird/bat boxes

🏀 Beckton Labour councillors Tonii Wilson and Blossom Young recently attended the launch of the new play area at Beckton District Park South! 🌹 This project has been delivered by Newham Labour as part of the Beckton Parks Masterplan; we've also been renovating the nearby Will Thorne Pavillion so it's open for public use again by the summer. 80% of the work is now complete on the cafe side, with refurbishment works to begin on the changing room side over the next two months. 🚜 We've also got some exciting news about Newham City Farm! 🚗 | On the road with our Mayor, Josh Black! Pioneer Park amenities building in Wellington has been recently completed, following the previous building being destroyed by fire. The building was completed by a local contractor and features changing rooms, toilets, canteen and storage. The amenities building is utilised by local sporting clubs such as soccer, rugby union, touch football and cricket.
