ACYes, the health department was called on us for the video we posted yesterday- measuring coffee beans and announcing free drip coffee.
The concern? That we were filming, touching our phones, and “not washing our hands.”
Here’s the thing: you don’t know when we washed our hands, and whole coffee beans are unprepared food - gloves not required.
They then go through extreme heat and pressure that would literally melt your skin, so the beans are doing just fine.
The only real debate here is barista nerd stuff: oils from hands vs. oils from beans (and yes, gloves make accurate measuring harder).
Feel free to argue that part in the comments.
But calling the health department over free coffee?
That’s not food safety - that’s just petty ☕️🧼

FRYesterday I passed out flyers in the neighborhood where Tammy grew up.
After her early onset Parkinson’s diagnosis four years ago and her dad’s recent diagnosis, we became aware of several others from the same neighborhood who are either currently living with Parkinson’s or who previously had it.
At this point, we are already aware of approximately 7 to 8 individuals who lived on her street or within a street of it.
We are gathering information to determine whether this may represent a health cluster that should be reviewed by the health department.
If you grew up in the area of 3500 S and 4800 W in West Valley and you or someone you know has or has had Parkinson’s, please DM me.
We appreciate any information you feel comfortable sharing.

Serious cardio multiple times a week is the most important form of exercise you can do as you get older. I’m talking rigorous work, 30-40 minutes per day, every day. It’s essential.
When I read Younger Next Year (A book I highly recommend, by the way) it woke me up in the health department. Author Chris Crowley tells it to you straight. If you’re in your 40’s and you want to be productive in your 50’s, 60’s and 70’s (I mean not just going to doctors and hospitals), pay attention to some of the essential teachings here.

AHAmid rising concerns over unhygienic street food, the Health Department conducted raids on pani puri stalls in Surat’s Althan area. Vendors selling food in filthy conditions and encroaching on public roads were checked, and inedible items including potato fillings and contaminated water were destroyed. As part of a statewide drive that has seen action against nearly 4,000 pani puri vendors, authorities urged citizens to avoid eating at unhygienic places, warning of an increase in food-borne diseases despite heavy crowds at such stalls.

KMA complaint from a customer caused inspectors to temporarily shut down a KCMO grocery store. The main concern? Freezers with a temperature of 55-60 degrees.
Signs on the front windows at Save A Lot at 34th and Troost say "business closed."
“We understand that we don't have that many grocery stores in this part of town and the inner city, so we want to reopen them as soon as possible,” said Naser Jouhari, deputy director of the Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department. “But still, we want to make sure that they provide safe food to their customers.”
